Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

Jasudavicius vs. Cachoeira: J via decision. I really want Cachoeira to keep losing and get cut after her blatant attempts at eye gouging on Roberston.
Robertson vs. Viana: Robertson via Sub. Can see her not getting the fight to the ground and if that occurs Viana via DEC.
Pennington vs. Silva: Pen via dec.

Han Guangmei fight announcement;

So for the second fight in a row, Stamp will be facing someone who’s only had a single fight in well over a year’s time.

Is it just me or ufc strawweight division suddenly looks sort of shallow now, especially in terms of young prospects? Zhang vs Yan is a solid champ fight but both are 34. Suarez just seems to go on yet another hiatus for who knows how long. Remaining tops are solid fighters but veterans too. Jandiroba 35, Rodriguez 36, Lemos 36, Esparza 36. Dern seemed to start finally climbing up for a moment but got brutally shot down by Andrade lol. Loopy is probably the one whos next fight I'm the most excited for.

By comparison, 125 looks just huge. I would even go so far to say that flyweight now has more interesting match ups than 115 and 135 combined.

Thoughts?

Asked what happened to Mazo being the flyweight champ, LFA replied she’s moving up to bantamweight, next fight will be for that title

UFC rushed a whole bunch of 30 something’s up the ladder. Rodriguez, Lemos, Zhang, all of them got rushed to the top.

had a quick glance at roster watch website and sorting for age came up with the following:
- 22yo: iasmin lucindo, tereza bleda
- 24yo: yazmin jauregui, cory mckenna, viktoriia dudakova, denise gomes
heck super melly is only 26 and loma is only 27

of the young ones i'd say denise gomes is the brightest prospect

i'd say rankings at sw have more to do with how many fights in the ufc they've managed to have - sometimes that takes years to accumulate (unless you're angela hill or loopy godinez)

p.s: where tf is cory anyway???

Ooh, those all sound like fun to rewatch. Might throw in MBS vs. Holm. For the werep & purp pre-fight show. :cool:

Thanks again for those suggestions werep. This evening I've watched Rocky vs. Viera (Rocky won by split decision), Bueno Silva vs. Holm (MBS won by round 2 standing neck guillotine) and Viana vs. Iasman (Iasmin won by round 2 sub, arm triangle choke). Glad I have fight pass as it's a good place to watch earlier fights. Plan on watching a few more on your list too.
