With his insane cardio, why isnt Cain ripped?

He's probably better off with some weight on him to push guys around with. Being light at HW is a liability.

Lol @ people saying genetics.

Genetics play a role to a certain degree, but most people are capable of getting sub 10% body fat with the right diet and exercise.

Cain is just so boss that he eats what he wants to.

genetics are the starting point though. youre right that someone who trains as hard and often as cain does could easily be shredded but lets be real. theres guys who train half as much as cain and eat the same or worse and are shredded

genetics (not just ethnicity) are the starting point

dat mexican diet. lol its so hard to get ripped on such a carb and fat ladden diet.

Dem Mexican genes. Seriously, I've never seen a fit Mexican who had the same skeletal sctructure as a guy like Cain. Their body types are either short and skinny or short and fat, lol. An exception being Cain or Chris Areola who are above average height, but are STILL fat.

They must have the worst genes for fatty tissue, next too Samoans.

Tony Gonzalez comes to mind

I have similar body composition as Cain. I decided to get "ripped" one summer and ran 5 hour per week w/a bottle of ephedra. I got somewhere around 9% bf, and you could see my abs and muscle definition. But I felt terrible and mentally slow all the time. My diet was perfect, and it generally is.

As soon as I went back to a sane routine (i.e. cardio/lift twice a week, no ephedra), my layer of bf came back.

Meanwhile there are people who don't watch what they eat or exercise, yet their bodies look ripped.

The truth is cardio strength and bf% have little to do with each other. Some people just carry more bf than others.

Its all down to diet and what kind of workouts you're doing. Back in the day even Fedor was ripped and hes the poster guy for looking out of shape as a top fighter.

Same with Semmy Schilt. If they needed to be ripped to be successful they would be.

Thanks for posting these pics. Hopefully the 'genetics' rubes can take heed.

Too much tortillas. Srs.

Tortillas are fattening because of the way they are made today in the us,
why most Mexicanos make food at home rather than buying premade garbage.

Corn is the way to go and if has anything other than salt, pepper some chilis and maybe flower petals...well, dont eat it.

Then again, nobody ever accused a southern hermano of not overendulging in some bomb comida.

Luckily most indiginous "mexican" foods are very healthy.
Unluckily enough, its hard in the states to get quality ingredients without growing yourself.
Should see my yard, its completely garden nothing non edible or medicinal.

Diet and genetics perhaps

Leaning towards the later seeing that he takes this sport pretty seriously

This thread hasn't been wastelanded yet? I'll bite. I'm sure its been mentioned countless times already, but muscle mass doesn't help with cardio, it actually makes you expend more energy to maintain it. And as far as getting lean, diet is far more important to losing fat than exercising is. All that calorie burning that Cain does while training like a beast isn't going to make him lean if he's eating sloppy.

A lot of people don't realize this and would dismiss what you said as being "lazy".

Regarding your second point, I know what you mean. I have a lazy friend who barely exercised, and he ate, slept, watched tv most of the time, and he's very lean with good amount of muscles.

Yes they are. Just like sthenic, hypersthenic, hyposthenic, or asthenic are. It is the terms you have an issue with? Do you have an issue with the terms I just wrote (which basically contains a lot of the same descriptions, and are used on universities all over the world)

lmao, looks like I was right hey?

Nothing more than descriptions. 10 years ago I was a 250 pound fat ass slob (5'11) and now I look like the well built mesomorph.

Just call people short/tall/fat/skinny etc, somatotypes implies you're stuck where you are and can't change, which is BS.

Exactly. The only difference anyone can think of genetically speaking is one's BMR.

Lol, what are you talking about.

There are differences between people's bodies, weight, metabolism or whatever - probably hundreds of them.

Doesn't change the fact that all sthenics, mesomorphs, phlegmatic, sanguines etc. are relict attempts at stereotyping them.

Preach on, this guy still doesn't listen when more than 3 people are trying to educate him.

Somatotypes is some bullshit made by some guy guy in the early 1900s. Those stupid mice studies don't fool me mate.

You forgot to realize that the first picture of Fedor and his bro was taken when they were in their teens, whereas in the second picture, Fedor got old.

Fedor's brother has been said to lack work ethics (straight from Fedor's own words), and if you look at the first picture, he's quite lean compare to the second picture.

How you look has more to do with diet than working out. It's about 75% diet. Also, as we all know, many fighters get some extra help to look the way they do.

With JDS and Reem's insane rippedness, why don't they have cardio ?

i never said diet and exercise werent huge. i said genetics were the starting point and a large factor. theres a ton of people that would actually find it difficult to carry cains bodyfat and work out as hard as he does. theres also the reality that cain himself could clean up his diet with the same exercise routine and drop a bunch of fat.

genetics are the starting point and a big factor. diet and exercise are also huge in determining your physique. considering all pro mma fighters train ridiculously hard their physique really boils down to diet and genetics

Maybe the secret to his cardio is his stored blubber and his mutant ability is to be able to convert that to energy quicker than the average human.
