It keeps Wisconsin's supreme court a liberal majority. It limits the fuckery the conservatives can pull in that state. The importance is amplified with Wisconsin being one of the few swing-states in play in national elections.

I've tried to walk conservatives through the logic, slowly and patiently, but they don't care that these laws do absolutely nothing to reduce fraud and are only used to suppress the vote.

None of them will agree that new election laws should be screened to ensure they aren't suppressive before they're put into effect, as per the VRA before it was gutted. They laugh about ID laws being racist but have nothing to say when it's pointed out how many laws are struck down in court after the fact for being exactly that.

The suppression is the point and they know it, they just want to win the elections by any means necessary. Conservatives created laws that prevented voting during very specific hours on Sundays. Why? Souls to the polls and black Democratic voters.

I think he is a little long in the tooth, so he may believe, sadly. It doesn't matter that illegals can't register to vote in the first place. Their names wouldn't even be on the rolls. And why would an illegal even try to register? "Hey guy! I'm here illegally! Please let me vote!".

Trump is trying to get immigrants both legal and illegal out because he is a racist white nationalist leading a racist white nationalist movement. Not only are we not trying to give undocumented immigrants the right to vote, but there’s no guarantee they’d vote for us anyway, as seen by some of the demographics that Trump did well with in 2024.

Progressive policies aren't intended to grow the Democratic voting base by bringing in more bodies.

Immigrants aren't a net negative to the economy, either. An adult immigrant is a huge boon as children are incredibly expensive to a country. You'll notice that Republicans fought every measure to process them efficiently and prefer to just kick them all out by any means necessary.

Considering American birth rates it's an incredibly short-sighted philosophy.

What troubles me the most is how little conservatives care about human rights and the constitution.
