Windows 11 thread (Windows 10 support to end in 2025): Update is now live and free

I don't have TPM at all on my mobo. I'm guess I'm riding with Win10.
I have no idea if my mobo has it, but it does not have it activated.

Microsoft gives a guide on how to activate it, but it seems like way too much work just upgrade to something that, at least right now, would probably hinder me more than help me.

Don't let that daunt you. The hardest thing about figuring this out is figuring out what language your motherboard manufacturer uses to refer to it in your BIOS. So you just have to browse the menus until you see it. Then it's as simple as hitting "Enter" to change that feature from off to on. Reboot with Save Changes.

Just refer to my post above to see the most common names:

For my motherboard it was called "Intel Platform Trust Technology".

Thanks. Gonna wait until they let me do it on my laptop (says everything is fine, they just won't let me upgrade it yet) and see how it runs there, before doing it to my main pc

I'm kind of surprised that so many here seem surprised by the Mac inspired UI changes. They're obviously trying to convert Apple users. They don't think they're at risk of losing their base, so they're making changes to try to lure the other side over. I've personally spoken to at least a dozen Mac and iOS users who recognize the advantages of non-Apple devices, but are afraid of change. I imagine these people are the target audience.

It's just like when a political party does something their voter base will hate in an effort to win over swing voters.

PS- I'm not saying I agree with the change. I hate the new start menu. I'm just saying that the reasoning seems obvious to me and kind of makes sense. I don't see why they wouldn't make a very easy way to customize it, though. The fact that desktop UI is becoming less customizable over time is asinine.
