News Windows 11 finally got me.

My computer has been trying to get me to download Microsoft teams for the last year. I’m about to go back to Apple.

Imagine if you went to a restaurant who had their philosophy of business, where every part of the restaurant was designed to squeeze as much money out of each customer as possible rather than one that aims to serve good food. They would have slots in the floor, in case someone dropped spare change, that fed into a change jar. Each dish would be meticulously measured and every ingredient weighed to make sure they got the desired profit margin on each ingredient.
They would’t let you share even a bite of your dish with anyone else, or you’d have to pay a fine. So if your wife wanted to try your food, she would have to order her own in addition to what she already ordered.

The goal when designing the OS should be first and foremost to make a great OS. While money should be considered, it should be secondary. And that has been Microsoft’s problem for the past 10 years at least.

High tech and internet regulation are behind the times, and I'd say intentionally as well. Its the result of decades of corruption/lobbying along with the ideal of letting the free market regulate itself. The profit as secondary objective motive makes sense for businesses which are like public utilities and it makes sense when Windows/IOS/etc and chat apps like twitter/instagram are like utilities. People can't just say I'll quit Windows or whatever and and Bill Gates can go fuck himself because of the network effect, I need Windows for gaming/work. Micro$ made it more difficult and sometimes impossible to interoperate because of its proprietary standards and not releasing patents, eg. not playing nice with open document standards, other companies having to pay royalties on file formats...

Soon as I'm done with this game I'm playing, Im going linux forever. Done with MS bloat spying, bugging me. Windows 2000 was perfect look for me. Ever since been unhappy.... but games...

Nowadays all I do is email, neff forums, and check news/shop/stocks with the browser.. really so a light secure footprint of linux should serve me well.

Open office works if someone sends me work type shit..like a spread sheet or doc.

Fuck those motherfuckers. Windows 10 was the tipping point for me. I finally loaded Linux Mint, and its more like Windows than Windows now. It opens every goddamn windows file and video I ever had without hassle. I'm not wasting time going through layers of bullshit to get the same old control panel like windows 10. Never going back to microsoft.

Yes and it's really easy to install! Just decide which one is right for you, then find the server with mirror for your country, download, make sure you have the correct ISO, because people can just copy fake ISO's etc. etc. etc. EL OH EL fuck that bullshit. If they actually made this shit user friendly I'd install it. Instead I gotta look up a bunch of technical jargon because they made the shit so complex.

Damn that takes me back. Was running a dual-celeron 510mhz with Geforce 2 on win2k for the dual cpu support
