All of those fighters have fought many times at featherweight in the UFC. So they have small enough frames to make 145 lbs. Not only could Islam never have made 145 lbs, but he really struggles to make 155 lbs. Dan Hardy has pointed out that Islam has cheated on the scale in Abu Dhabi. So he must have a bigger frame than fighters who were able to fight at featherweight. It is not particularly impressive to beat smaller fighters.

That's most of Jon Jones' opponents at 205 lol.

TBF, TS is just asking, he isn't saying he thinks Islam has surpassed Khabib or that people should feel/think Islam has surpassed Khabib. The dude is just curious about what people think about the current situation and how it reflects on his legacy in the division. If anything, I think it's kinda implied Islam won't surpass Khabib yet if he beats Moicano. Could be wrong about that though.

It's Khabib for me. Khabib has pretty much every single intangible you want in a fighter, along with an insane work ethic and level of skill. It's fine for someone else to have Islam #1, but he's not going to be my #1. Islam will have to settle for #2.

Islam is great, but there would be a lot of asterisks around his title reign if it stopped after Moicano. Only 1 of his defenses was against a top 5 LW (Dustin), and I didn't think he looked particularly impressive in that fight.

In the end, I think Islam will end up with the best LW resume we've seen, but almost everyone will realize he's not the "best" LW we've seen. The best versions of Khabib and BJ were clearly better than Islam, but they didn't have the longevity.

Either way, in a sport this young, GOAT debates are pretty silly. In the next 20 years, the supposed GOAT mantle will be passed around at least 2 or 3 times.

Volk is arguably the goat FW. Champions in neighboring weight classes are usually top ten if not top five caliber guys in neighboring ones, much less GOAT level champs.

I actually feel a bit bad for him after what happened with this matchup. It would have been his first real defense against a number one contender. And he needed that badly for his resume. A thing he has no part or control over at the moment and it really sucks.
