First of all the situation is way more complicated than "Russians bad" and there really is no clear bad guy. Both sides bear some responsibility for the innocent lives being lost right now.

And other than the US, Russia is probably the most important MMA country. Empty virtue signalling would cost the UFC way more. In terms of condemming people for things one quick litmus test is not to make permanent enemies over temporary situations.

For example i ignore all like minded political folks who are making fools of themselves with anti vaxx stuff. While I've lost respect for there will come a day they won't care about anti vax stuff in a post covid world and it doesn't make sense to drop people over something that will blow over. You condemm and sever ties people over permanent differences.

Banning Russian companies is mostly hurting the thousands of normal employees and their families, not so much the few multimillionaire (or billionaire) owners and even less the government officials who got payouts, gifts, bribes and power.

The whole idea of destroying Russian sports, businesses, etc, may only work if the people become so angry and poor that they will risk life and freedom to try overthrow the current leadership, which is highly unlikely.

Other than that, we are just ruining the lives of millions of innocent people who largely don’t support the war as much as we do, perhaps even more given that it impacts them far more directly than us.

But this gets hard to judge real fast. Who do you DQ? All Russians? All except ones who are anti-Putin? Only the ones who are openly pro-Putin? Hard to make that decision.

If I ran the UFC I'd ban anyone openly supporting the war / Putin. The rest are innocent until proven guilty IMO. But again, it's super hard to decide.

I have a great idea: we can sew some symbol on russian fighter's sleeves so we can recognize them. Also, to make it easier knowing their whereabouts, we could get all russian fighters into centralized "camps" preparing for fights, regulate their food so they are "on weight" year around, those with bad stamina could use "elevation chambers" that make breathing harder. All of this temporarily, of course, until we find a solution to the russian problem.
