Will Maia ever get a title shot?

Maia can beat anyone in the division, but they know the casual fanbase doesn't have a clue of what he's doing.

MMA has been turning into a half-baked entertainment operation for some time now. We all knew this was going to happen. The martial arts aspect is in the past.

I remember in the early 2000's the perception was by many long-term viewers that MMA was morphing into a kind of watered-down Pancrase style event, and that it was not out of the realm of possibility that the UFC would inch closer to a hybrid style pro wrestling event like in Japan.

I think we are actually watching those predictions come true; albeit slowly.

Ultimately, you're going to have every fighter fighting the same way, with fewer risks being taken. When that happens, it becomes tempting to script matches in order to provide a specific outcome. Japan learned this.

It's the reality tv model, and don't think it can't infect sports.

Nobody even wants to see him FIGHT, let alone be champion lol.
 
Also, at this point Maia would be the favorite over Wonderboy, and Woodley. Maia is a dream crusher, and I would love to see him champ if only to piss off casual fans, and depress the UFC management.

Also, even if Maia left the UFC, the guy would basic clean out any lower tier organizations roster. He could conceivably fight successfully well into his 40's. He's taken so little damage while the rest of these oafs play rock 'em sock 'em robots for the sake of attention.

“I have some contacts and I know they offered some people to Tyron Woodley, but they didn’t offer him to me, and that for me sounds strange. I don’t know which direction this sport is going. I know ‘Wonderboy’ and a couple of other guys (were offered). It’s really weird what is happening right now. In other times, I would be fighting for the title. I’m really sad about that because, why didn’t they offer Woodley to me? I’m the next guy. The only thing they can do is the rematch, and if it’s not the rematch, it’s me. It’s sad.”

Maia would Gracie-in-action Lombard. Lombard's ground game is terrible, and that's all Maia needs. Lombard is not on his level.

Yeah, because Maia has had so much trouble getting fights to the ground against even better wrestlers than Lombard.

You're acting like Lombard has some kind of incredible takedown defense. Plus, Lombard has low fight IQ. Even if he caught Maia, he would be dumb enough to follow him to the ground.

Hoping your fighter lands a one hit one kill punch is a fairly meager form of hope when all other factors are considered.
 
Maia should be next inline for a titleshot. But it depends on whats going on with Woodley. Is he rematching Wonderboy or fighting Bisping . We just don't know.
 
I can't see him getting a title shot until he fights 1 more time now that Woodley vs Thompson rematch is happening. Would love to see Maia vs Nick Diaz

Boohoo! Maia's been crying for his titleshot for years now. Guy can cry longer. Reality is WW division is stacked, and there's plenty of other guys that deserve shots too, and most of them aren't dull like he is!
 
Wonderboy then Maia.

Anything else is nonsense

Siver went from 14th to 9th after the Conor fight was announced and no way was Diamond top 5. He was definitely 6-10 but not 5.

Maia would be severely stuck in the mud here. He'd get clipped and it would be done. Maia is slow and he's lost to a lot of good wrestlers. Check his record. Lombard has that Olympic judo. Maia is the perfect style match up for him.
