It's fairly likely that within the next 50 years, with the help of AI, we could engineer and birth anything we want to. 99% of the genes that make up a T-Rex are likely still around in modern birds and reptiles.

I don't think so - I don't think there are any scientific global conspiracies with a bunch of nerds lying about technologies they don't want us to know exist.

Also, I think things go extinct for a reason, like their habitat has been completely fucked, or a new super predator from across the planet was suddenly introduced. Unless you fix those huge problems, it's gonna be hard to un-extinct things, even if we had the means to grow extinct animals in the lab.

Would there be enough shit to eat for wooly mammoths these days? I could definitely get behind bringing them back. If they wanna live in the barren empty arctic, fair play. Plenty of room.

Probably not dinosaurs, but they are working on bringing back other extinct species. The wooly mammoth, Tasmanian tiger, Dodo bird, Moa, etc.
