Will humans make a Jurassic park in our lifetimes?

We've already cloned a bunch of stuff at this point. Dolly died in 2003.

Apart from mammoths, I don't think they have anything to work with.

They're working on bringing other animals back as well, but the mammoth is the "sexy" animal to most people. Everyone knows what a wooly mammoth is, they don't know or care about the Abrolhos painted button quail.
So these companies put out press releases saying they're working on a mammoth, that gets people talking, and investing. Thylacines were the all the rage for a while in the cloning community.

When they do, some creep will die fucking those dinosaurs. Guarantee.

humans probably couldn't handle the idea that they're probably just giant birds

Does someone have a secret stash of mosquitoes trapped in amber with every single dinos dna trapped inside them?

Fuck no, we wont. We cant even take care of ourselves. The last fuckin thing we need is to add dinosaurs in the mix.

Just imagine the state of the hood when dudes start staging Velociraptor fights.

Nobody has ever extracted dino dna from amber. You might read online that it's a "matter of debate" because a few people have made some pretty wild claims, however none of them have been able to produce anything replicable, which put their claims very much in the category of bullshit until they can prove otherwise.

Some scientists have theorised it may be possible to re-create extinct species with junk-DNA, but that's really just an idea.... our understanding of non-coding DNA is still pretty weak.

- I would like to see the barbarian lion back!

I fucking hope not and I speak as someone who loves dinosaurs and would do almost anything to see one.

I remember reading that DNA, even preserved under perfect conditions, only lasts a few thousand years.

a T Rex sized chicken? why not

The San Diego Wild Animal Park has a genetic database of animals that would absolutely blow most people's minds. They will be the first one's to do something similar, no doubt.

Scientists can't even develop a cure for cancer.

No to Jurasic Park

Yes to terminator
Honestly its now a scenario that isnt that far of to think anymore. We see what happens with KI / AI involvement for most of population. They dumb down and forget how to learn and understand by themselves. So one consequence is a much easier to control population not seing warning signs.

On the other hand we now arm our weapons with more and more sophisticated KI giving them more and more autonomy. We have started to include that KI into human like robotics that are very capable. I dont think it will take annother 100 years for a collapse.
