I can't see Olives getting to 4. He's been relying on his chin and recovery these last 2 fights to pull a Glover type comeback. That's not a great look going forward, especially against Gaethje. Islam is still a step down from Khabib talent wise, but I think he has the best shot.

Did you not watch the weigh-ins? The last two times that Khabib weighed in, he did so with extreme difficulty. He either had to retire or go back to welterweight (where he fought before coming to the UFC). Continuing to try to make lightweight wasn't an option for him.

If Charles doesn't get it then maybe Islam will. But neither are locks for it. I think Oliveira has a good shot at beating Gaethje and Conor to tie the record. Then the Islam fight, the toughest one. But Islam has been KO'd and also hurt in another fight. It doesn't seem like he has a chin like Khabib. Khabib could come back and win the belt. I'd count that as 4 defenses.

I don't see it that way. Most of the fighters in that division have either retired, been cut, fought guys like Al Iaquinta to win the belt, went on 2+ losing streaks...ect..ect

Yes. I’ve said it many times. Either Oliveira or Islam is going to do it. It’s going to happen in the next cpl of years. I used to say within the next decade. But, now I’m sure it’s either happening right now, or in the immediate future. Both guys are that good.

It's a 3 way tie currently with BJ, Khabib, Edgar*, and Bendo all having 3 successful title defenses. Khabib more than likely would've held the record but he chose to retire, ending that possibility. Everly other LW title holder has only had 1 defense or none. And with LW being the shark tank it is, can anyone make it 4?

Damn, Khabib could have beaten that record easily by just giving Conor rematches ad infinitum! Dana would be in heaven and would book it 10 times in a row at the very least. Or until Conor stopped breathing.
