Will an Indian ever hold a UFC strap?

Mma is already blowing up in India, they probably have the greatest org in the world.

I work with a ton of Indians and they don't seem to be into MMA much. That said, India is a massive country with over a billion people. One would think they'd be able to produce a top tier fighter or two.

However all the Indians I work with don't seem to possess an athletic bone in their body. I'm confident that if my office had an open weight tournament I'd at least make it to the finals.

So, will we ever see Dana putting the belt on an Indian fighter?
I mean, really, who gives a shit. If an indian guy wins a belt are you gonna pat yourself on the back and say "we did it" ? It's just a silly question. Will a frenchman every drink tea? Will a sri lankan ever be the worlds number 1 surfer? I just have to know

The Chinese are WAY ahead of the Indians when it comes to combat sports.
Over twice as many Olympic wrestling medals (11 medals, incl. 2 gold), 12 medals in boxing (Indians have 00), and at least 2 professional boxing world champions (India again 00).

The chinese are very good at kickboxing. They are now up there with the thais, dutch, japan and the rest of the world. Watch WLF and kunlun to see chinese fighters mixing it up with well known fighters from around the world

You're right, almost forgot about that. But they really heralded the sport after FEG/K-1 went bust.

so it is unlikely, but in terms of skill, someone like Jaideep could have a chance. We see how far someone like Hunt or JDS has made it at hw. I would expect Him to beat both on the feet.

lol what makes you think that Jaideep can beat Hunt who is a former K1 GP Champ and JDS who is considerd one of the better HW strikers in mma?

Jaideep is not even a verry good kickboxer and has a mediocre record with his biggest win being Kharitanov who was 1-1 in kickboxing at the time.

Jaideep is 2-3 in mma and fought mostly nobodies. the guy doesnt have the skills to be a champion.

for your sake i hope you were just trolling.

Quote:FRIDAY, June 28 (HealthDay News) -- Lower fitness levels and higher amounts of body fat are major reasons why middle-aged men of South Asian origin living in Scotland have higher blood sugar levels and a greater risk of diabetes than white men, according to a new study.
The findings suggest that physical-activity guidelines may need to be changed to take people's ethnicity into account, the University of Glasgow researchers said.
The researchers measured blood sugar levels, insulin resistance and other diabetes risk factors in 100 South Asian and 100 white men, aged 40 to 70, without diabetes. The men's physical-fitness levels were measured using a treadmill test and their body size and body fat were calculated.
Lower fitness levels and greater body fat in South Asian men explained more than 80 percent of their increased insulin resistance compared to white men, the researchers concluded in the study, which was published in the June 27 issue of the journal Diabetologia.
The study also found that lower fitness levels among South Asian men could not be explained simply by lower activity levels. The South Asian men had lower fitness levels than white men at all levels of physical activity, which suggests natural differences in body makeup, the researchers said

"In particular, there is accumulating evidence that South Asians may have a 'low fitness' phenotype which contributes to their elevated cardio-metabolic risk, and thus may particularly benefit from undertaking higher levels of physical activity [14]"

In South Asians, a unique obesity phenotype of high abdominal fat is associated with increased cardiovascular risk

Studies in the South Asian diaspora residing in the U.K. during the early 1980s suggested the possibility of an Asian Indian or South Asian phenotype (Fig. 1). This term refers to a combination of characteristics that predisposes SA to the development of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

Interesting posts, most posts that cover Mustle mass/Bone desnity/Testosterone ive read usuall just go for Balck/White/Hispanic/Asian(east) usually South Asians get overlooked but I would be interested to read more stuff like that.

Honestly I think they are at a biological disadvantage, numbers don't lie and seeing how badly Indians are at sport im sure there is a biological reason. I read a quarter of Indian men have low testosterone levels... from working in an IT job years ago I was the only white guy who got my bus home and their voice and mannerisms were very effeminate. I wouldn't be surprised if there was biological reasons as well as cultural ones (fatty diet, lack of focus on sports over education etc.)

People are quick to say things are cultural but in a country with that big a population it surely has to be genetic?

I'm glad you've kept an open mind, many people are quick to dismiss genetic factors in this era of political correctness but science does not lie. There are countless medical studies on muscle mass, adipose, diabetes that say the same over and over about the south asian phenotype, its become scientific fact that south asians have a different body type that is marked by high body fat, fat deposits concentrated in the stomach area and low lean muscle mass. They also have the highest rates of diabetes in the world by far

There to busy becoming Doctors...

Indian_doctors-1193.jpg

Indians produce some of the greatest minds on the planet (Ramanujan anyone?) and are intensely focused on Academic rather than athletic pursuits. When you're intelligent you can find easier and more certain ways to make money.

When I got back from a military suck school, I took two weeks leave and went to visit a high school friend of mine whose parents paid for him to go to college. I arrived at my friend's apt ready to party and bang some skanky college chicks. His neighboring apt was packed with Indians, at least 8. They slept on bedrolls on the floor next to stacks and stacks of medical texts. They didn't go out and waste brain cells, they fucking studied all weekend. Put the whole trip in perspective, how weak and useless all the American college kids were.... most of them that I met flunked out later after wasting thousands of their parents $$$$. At least later in life they can get prescribed Xanax for their depression by the Dr. Patel that was sleeping on the floor of a one bedroom apt.

I never forgot that lesson, and when online classes became easily available, I quickly got my degree. Every time I didn't feel like writing a paper after a 12hr workday or a 12 day patrol in Afghanistan, I still got on my laptop and knocked it out.

Eh, South Asians in martials arts are mostly Thai boxers shredded to fuck and back.

So even if there are 'genetic factors' they are not THAT important.

I would say that it's, simply, infrastructure and development that produces sportsmen.

Wrestling and general athletic programs in USA (funded WAY better than medicine in most places of the world, lol) will produce huge amount of guys who drill, drill and drill training, dieting, cutting weight etc.

Who see MMA as natural consequence, chance to win some money that wrestling can't really give you.

While Thai only really have infrastructure to drill Muay Thai... And apparently are conditioned to think that grappling is fake and gay or something.

How can something like that produce MMA fighters?

And India really has NOTHING.

Look at my post on the first page.

If some hardcore wrestling tradition like the one that produced Great Gama and other 5'7'' wrestlers who sailed to England and whooped all the 220 pounds British folkstylists still existed....

Then you could have some results, at smaller weightclasses at least.

South asians are Pakistanis, indians and bangladeshis not THAIS. Thais are a totally different people and belong to SOUTH EAST ASIA. Very different genetics. You cannot group a thai , filipino with an indian.

And yes genetic factors are important read this.
