Will a "Brawler" ever be champ again?

no.
brawler has no chance at being champ now a day because MMA evolve and the champion train strategy, skills, speed, and cardio and techniques.

brawler has no chance.

Are you serious? Benson doesn't get tired and Eddie gasses after two rounds.

Figure it out.

Gassed after 2? He won rd 3 10-8 and almost finished more than once.... He got rocked in the 4th and subbed, he didn't gas, he's never gassed in a fight.

Soo.. a brawler is a striker who isn't very good? Then no.

The 2nd fight didnt last long enough to really show anything. But as time has past Shogun has become much more of a brawler than he was then.

JDS is a brawler and he is champ.
JDS doesn't stand in the pocket and trade.
JDS certainly isnt a boxer. He never boxed or kick boxed in a sanctioned event in his whole life neither amateur or professional. Sorry to bust your bubble.

18-0 as a kickboxer

A brawler will always have a chance, but all the champs have fantastic technique. sound technique almost always beats a brawler.

Shogun isn't a brawler. If anything he just lacks conditioning and gets sloppy due to a mix of several serious knee injuries and surgeries, overconfidence, laziness, and a lack of discipline with his diet.

Yes he does against Yvel he did.

Ok...whom did he fight and where? I am 18-0 as a kickboxer also....dont ask me any questions about it though.
Yeah that 1 fight he looked like a mad man, I remember Yvel threw a head kick and JDS blocked and waved his hands like "BRING IT BITCH" then went into the pocket and blasted him.

Nice maybe you're future GOAT

Define 'Brawler'. You mentioned Shogun but he also has good BJJ and good MT, not to mention a crazy ability to absorb punishment and keep moving forward. When I think brawler, someone like Houston Alexander comes to mind, in which case, no, I highly doubt it.

His fights in pride were brawls as well
barao vs. macdonald will be a war

Indeed, doubt they going to stand in the pocket.

Someone that doesn't mind taking punishment to win the exchange or fight. I also think brawlers might have speed as well like Shogun used to.

This. LOL at the people saying JDS is a brawler. He's a boxer, with clean fluid technique. Brawlers don't use angles or jabs, and rarely use straight punches. And brawlers are usually sloppy. JDS is NOT sloppy.
