Wicked sidehustles

How much do you charge? Asking for a friend

I don't understand people with side hustles honestly. I have a job and I'm getting another job in my free time. Like why the hell would I want to do that? I guess if I was struggling for money or if my side hustle was just doing something that I genuinely like to do.

It sounds like you do understand it

Thats why @Slobodan hustles as a rent boy

I prefer to work, invest and enjoy my free time while my investments make money for me.

I could see doing a side hustle if it was going to lead to a lucrative business but I'm not going to spend a bunch of hours in my free time making an extra thousand or two a month. Just not worth it.

My side hustle is now limited to corporate Board of Directors work with Start Up and very early stage companies. It typically pays no cash, unless the company gets very successful but i do get stock options at basement prices, and if/when any make it to even moderate success they really pay off.

I can make $4k cash in one afternoon replacing an AC unit

I do HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fabrication/machining side jobs
Do you have a license to perform contracted electrical work?

If not, are you afraid of the liabilities that may come your way in the case of an electrical failure? Up to and including personal injury or house fire?

Same with plumbing, not so much fire, but flooding or property damage.

I only ask because in the U.S. it is unlawful to perform contracted electrical work without being licensed, and with today’s insurance companies, the very first thing they will go after to recover damages is the contractor. If you don’t have the insurance to protect yourself, you’re fucked and liable for every penny.

These thoughts are what keeps me from working on anyone’s stuff but my own.
