That's not what I understood. The winner of Wallin and Whyte would get the shot at Fury. This article confirms that.

EDIT: No it appears you are correct, this article states that if Whyte pulls out of the Wallin fight he remains the WBC interim Champion. Wallin and his team will petition the WBC to force the fight to be rescheduled though.

Im definitely assuming, and possibly incorrectly, that Wallin wouldnt want a phone booth slug fest with Whyte. No one should lol. Hes a dog.

I hope Whyte did not go running. That would be a shit thing to do considering Wallin had to put money in to a training camp, and surely others spent money on tickets, travel etc. Just do not agree to the fight in the first place. Even if he is hurt, I will be surprised if he wants to re-book vs chasing the Fury fight.

Seems like an idiotic set of circumstances where Whyte had zero incentive. I don’t even remember how he got that stupid interim strap but the whole thing annoys me. It was stupid that he was able to have an immediate rematch clause in place against Povetkin too. It’s almost being treated like the intercontinental belt in the WWE like it’s its own strap to be defended.
 
Shit news, and like others have said, this may not get rescheduled.
 
he shouldn't get a shot at fury for doing this .. if he doesn't reschedule that is .. honor the fight you signed up for .. fury should be fighting usyk next anyways .. not a guy who not so long ago got spread out by grandpa povetkin
