Why you should bet the assets on McGregor

Wouldn't suprise me but my reasons are a bit different. I don't think McGregor is a better fighter than Dustin but I do think Herb and the judges will try and help give him the win. Dustin is either going to have to sub or knock him out again. If it's even remotely close and goes to a decision Conor is going to be given the W.

I personally wouldn’t bet on this fight, but if someone asked for a prediction I’d say McGregor by decision
Betting on Conor to win a decision is a riskier bet to me. If he wins, it's by TKO/KO. Cardio/conditioning has been Conor's biggest issue in his fights. He is unlikely to win a decision compared to winning by TKO/KO in the earlier rounds. He just doesn't seem to have an extra gear to switch to in the later rounds and/or never really catches a second wind. He was burnt out already after the 1st round in the Dustin rematch when the 1st round wasn't super active or high intensity and was spent most of the time against the cage just clinch fighting.

McGregor is a FW. Simple as that. I honestly wouldn’t bet on that fight, but if I really really had to, I would lean Dustin’s way.

I do not know what to think about Conor right now but this fight will define him if he is still in the game.

The reason I say decision is because Dustin can eat Conor’s bombs and is fairly durable, but Conor is the craftier striker and can even win wrestling and clinch exchanges if need be, it would be a close fight but Conor can win a decision for sure

But you didn’t address any of the points FightIQ made lol. His point was that his gas tank won’t survive to make him passably defensive against Dustin who gets better as the rounds go on

I rarely bet more than $20 on fights, but I put my $100 free bet on Poirier cause it seemed like the most likely outcome I could bet on at close to even odds. When does the guy who won the second fight in a trilogy not won the third? Penn/Hughes is the only example I can think of, but when it comes to examples of the guy who won the rematch winning the rubber match, I got:
Liddel/Couture, GSP/Hughes, Stipe/DC, Cain/JDS, and Griffin/Ortiz.
The Edgar/Maynard, and Rampage/Silva trilogies are kind of weird outliers, but they still show the one-way shift in advantage that is typical of rivalries. It is very rare for a fighter who is more dominant than another to lose that advantage and then get it back.

I don't think Conor can win a 5 rounder with Dustin. Dustin has been able to fight through and show heart in the championship rounds and Conor hasn't. Conor's best chances are in rounds 1-2. After that his chances get really low for winning in a 5 rounder. Conor isn't an offensive wrestler/grappler so it would be Dustin attacking and Conor defending only, which would favor Dustin on the scorecards in a grappling heavy ground. Even the Diaz fight lots of people felt he lost that fight. Conor hasn't shown the ability to fight hard for full 5 rounds so it isn't the best strategy for his fights. Nate won the last round in their rematch and Conor spent most of that round turning his back walking away from Nate and looking at the clock. He did it repeatedly in that round since the start of the round. That fight was pretty much just all stand up. So Conor hasn't been able to show the ability to do well in 5 round fights, that isn't the path to victory for him. Conditioning/cardio has been the biggest hole in his game. People think it's grappling but it's really his conditioning/cardio, when he's fresh he has great defensive grappling.

He never fights the same man twice save for bloated LW Nate. He never defends titles or fights contenders either. That said, he's still very much in his prime despite what his fangirls try to excuse his losses with. I think he has a really good chance and smoking Dustin early, but as we've seen multiple times McGregor is not a championship type of fighter as far as rounds go.

While I appreciate that very detailed and cogent response, I think it’s pretty clear from your first post what you meant, but the other poster just simply ignored it

Quick facts:

- McGregor has never lost to the same man twice
- McGregor has never lost two fights in a row
- McGregor has bounced back from a loss with a brutal TKO finish in 4 out of 5 losses (unmatched mental fortitude)

The history and the numbers are telling us most likely McGregor pulverizes Dustin in July.

I've noticed the recent trends where trolls who doesn't support Mcgregor are making threads talking up Mcgregor's chances. I've seen a few recently.

https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/july-10th-do-or-die-for-mcgregor.4181982/

"The guy is 3-3 in his last 6. He's already in Lobov / Journeyman territory. I personally think he should continue fighting, but not against the top 5. The facade is up. He has made his money. He should either retire, or accept that he has no business fighting for the title. Fun fights should be the move going forward.

He should fight Jake next if things don't go his way in July."

Since this troll is talking about bet slip, I'm more inclined to think that he's here hoping to get better odds on Poirier by talking up Conor's chances when he doesn't really mean it at all
