what about Diaz at 170?kinda easy to avoid skidding two fights in a row when the UFC trots out zombie cerrone for you to feast upon to save your brand.

Betting on Conor to win a decision is a riskier bet to me. If he wins, it's by TKO/KO. Cardio/conditioning has been Conor's biggest issue in his fights. He is unlikely to win a decision compared to winning by TKO/KO in the earlier rounds. He just doesn't seem to have an extra gear to switch to in the later rounds and/or never really catches a second wind. He was burnt out already after the 1st round in the Dustin rematch when the 1st round wasn't super active or high intensity and was spent most of the time against the cage just clinch fighting.I personally wouldn’t bet on this fight, but if someone asked for a prediction I’d say McGregor by decision

The reason I say decision is because Dustin can eat Conor’s bombs and is fairly durable, but Conor is the craftier striker and can even win wrestling and clinch exchanges if need be, it would be a close fight but Conor can win a decision for sureBetting on Conor to win a decision is a riskier bet to me. Sherdog always surprises me with the consistent wit displayed by its membersThat is a hell of a turn of phrase!
Well done!
But you didn’t address any of the points FightIQ made lol. His point was that his gas tank won’t survive to make him passably defensive against Dustin who gets better as the rounds go onThe reason I say decision is because Dustin can eat Conor’s bombs and is fairly durable, but Conor is the craftier striker and can even win wrestling and clinch exchanges if need be, it would be a close fight but Conor can win a decision for sure
I don't think Conor can win a 5 rounder with Dustin. Dustin has been able to fight through and show heart in the championship rounds and Conor hasn't. Conor's best chances are in rounds 1-2. After that his chances get really low for winning in a 5 rounder. Conor isn't an offensive wrestler/grappler so it would be Dustin attacking and Conor defending only, which would favor Dustin on the scorecards in a grappling heavy ground. Even the Diaz fight lots of people felt he lost that fight. Conor hasn't shown the ability to fight hard for full 5 rounds so it isn't the best strategy for his fights. Nate won the last round in their rematch and Conor spent most of that round turning his back walking away from Nate and looking at the clock. He did it repeatedly in that round since the start of the round. That fight was pretty much just all stand up. So Conor hasn't been able to show the ability to do well in 5 round fights, that isn't the path to victory for him. Conditioning/cardio has been the biggest hole in his game. People think it's grappling but it's really his conditioning/cardio, when he's fresh he has great defensive grappling. The reason I say decision is because Dustin can eat Conor’s bombs and is fairly durable, but Conor is the craftier striker and can even win wrestling and clinch exchanges if need be, it would be a close fight but Conor can win a decision for sure
While I appreciate that very detailed and cogent response, I think it’s pretty clear from your first post what you meant, but the other poster just simply ignored itI don't think Conor can win a 5 rounder with Dustin. Quick facts:
- McGregor has never lost to the same man twice
- McGregor has never lost two fights in a row
- McGregor has bounced back from a loss with a brutal TKO finish in 4 out of 5 losses (unmatched mental fortitude)
The history and the numbers are telling us most likely McGregor pulverizes Dustin in July.
