Why was Rhonda so hated?

That's the reason I said controversial, yes that's true, except you forget that Cyborg was always a big money fight for her, there has never been an opponent that could've sold the fight like Cyborg, as a fight fan, it was an amazing super fight, which means a lot especially for WMMA.

Cyborg couldn't make 135lbs and almost died trying, while Ronda was happy beating soccer mom's and accountants trying to be fit.

I honestly don't think cyborg ever made a legit try to make weight. She always told flimsy stories and lied. Ronda during her run was a big money fight all on her own, she didn't need cyborg. It was silly how cyborg let a few pounds cost her so much money

Rhonda never ducked fights or backed down. She was an active champ who wrecked opponents with finishes nearly every time. What gives?

Three letters.

T.U.F.

The emotionally unstable, childish, laughably embarrassing display she put on during her stint as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter was the first swirl of Rousey's reputation going down the toilet. And it only got worse from there.

Ronda acted like a douhe bag, so she shouldn't complain if she's treated like one.

to me, what happened to her is what happened to tiger woods. they both portrayed an image that was really not them. tiger gave off the family man image, when he was a cheating man-whore. ronda portrayed being a badass fighter who never backs down and has mental fortitude. one loss, and she hides from everyone, and then proceeds to get finished within one minute in her next fight, to retire soon afterwards.

people respect people who are themselves, and don't apologize for it. the one thing people don't like, is being lied to. that is what both of these individuals did.

That's a bingo!

Annoying personality.
Joe Rogan
She stated she could beat men.
Never faced the media after her losses, like every other fighter that has ever fought.
Travis Browne
Edmond

I think that pretty much covers it. But feel free to add.

Brendan Schaub.

TS said he doesn't watch TUF so this post is irrelevant to him (or something).

Here's where your theory breaks down...she's a terrible actor, which leads me to believe that her MMA related act isn't really acting but a reflection of who she actually is.
good enough to play the role of the villain.

She's a good actor when It comes to playing herself ( or rather the character she's created for herself)

I mean, you can think what you want but the truth is pretty obvious.

At the end of the day, people just want something to hate..and that emotion / hatred blinds people from seeing things clearly.

This shit is mostly a game. Remember that ALL of what you're seeing of some of these figures Is when they have dozens of cameras pointed at them. A lot of people forget that It seems.

The older you get, the less you take It seriously and the more you see the entertainment Industry for what It is.

you will too

I'd say this Is pretty well said.

That's the nature of the Industry though.

Gotta keep in mind most of these guys with star potential / power have so many people In their ears. Hollywood types, business people, PR people pushing them to be something they're not.

To maintain an image, to stir the pot, to create Interest, to sell a fight, sell their brand, etc.

It'd be cool if everyone In hollywood / In the limelight could just be who they really are but that's not really how things work.

I saw the Entourage movie (unfortunately)...she couldn't even really play herself well.

I hope you are her agent, because she owes you a percentage for all the work you're doing here on Sherdog.

That sort of logic Is very irrelevant and changes nothing about the role she played as a "villain" or "heel" in MMA. The polarizing figure that you either love or tune In to see them get their ass kicked. 2 different games right there..It's pretty indisputable that that's the role she played. Probably pushed to do so as well by everyone around her.

I don't really care about Rousey. Everything I've said could apply to any number of public figures.

There's a video of her trying to make 140lbs, and it's brutal, her making 135 would be like Conor making 140lbs, sure he can do if he loses enough muscle mass and emancipates himself to play in the pianist sequel, but he wouldn't be half the fighter he is in that condition.

Same as Cyborg.

I think it was all the ridiculous promotion she was getting from the UFC. Beating male fighters and stuff. It was bullshit and it bothered people that it got shoved down their throat everyday.

I dislike Ronda because she was part of the UFC hype machine, never went after the biggest challenge she was content to live in this fake bubble they created. She was dishonest in her comments about Cain etc. it was just ridiculous.

I've trained judo for nine years, there is an Olympic gold medal for women in the gym so I have a fairly accurate idea about what her limits where.

Because she was both very successful and a massive bitch. Not saying she deserved all the hate, but that's why she was hated.

Don't know. She wasn't that bad. All the reasons people have for disliking her are pretty soft.

She is one of the most, if not THE most, hated fighters in Sherdog history.

I guess that was just random chance when it should have been JDS or somebody.

Dude....are you brand new to the UFCs WMMA?
I cant believe people are really asking this question....

She was 4-0 when she dropped to 135 and when Cyborg wanted a shot at her.
Uh, Ronda was the one who continuously talked about wanting to fight Cyborg. She dropped down to 135 in the first place solely to build up hype for a fight with Cyborg specifically... Then Dana created a brand new UFC 135 division for Rousey and the rest is history.

http://mmajunkie.com/2011/12/strike...eeds-to-happen-but-wants-135-pound-belt-first

But Ronda was, without question, the one that wanted to fight Cyborg. She talked a lot of smack about Cyborg back in the day too.
