Why was Cowboy a popular fighter?

Entertaining scraps, anytime and anywhere, enjoys life and embraces it to the extreme. Helps out tons of fighters along the way.

One of muh fav dudes overall in a "enjoy many factors" sense.

I agree with TS. I don't like any fighters who fought a lot in the UFC but never won UFC championships. But it's difficult to execute this prejudice day-to-day, since I often have to wait until the fighter retires for good, and then decide if he/she was never any good or worthy of having liked his/her fights. If they never won a belt, it's axiomatic that their fights had no entertainment value, and that they were terrible fighters, in retrospect. It's sad for me that it looks like I'm going to end up disliking Mousasi, Kennedy, Romero, Diaz, Diaz, Hendo, Jacare, Jardine*, Houston**, Neer, Fisher, and Perry, among others. It looks like all of their fights will turn out to have been terrible, and they themselves unworthy of admiration as fighters.

Maybe I can like their fights they had in other organizations, provided that they won a title there. I haven't worked that part out yet.

*His style was too weird to look away from. But he never won a title, so none of his fights was entertaining.
**Before it occurred to someone to take him down.
Did Romero get destroyed in 30 seconds by another man’s shoulder? And Mousasi is a Bellator champ...

This.

Balls.

Thats all their is to it. No mystery.

Anyone, any time, any place.
That’s a good way to screw over fighters. I heard he fought Conor for 200k... like GSP said that is used by Dana to pressure fighters into bad deals, and if you resist Dana lies about you in the media saying you don’t want to fight.

Yeh, TS got me wondering, why do people like being rich, having sex with lots of hot women and driving awesome cars.

Its a mystery.

You're right, in that if Romero retires without a UFC title, I'll have no choice but to find all of his fights not entertaining and dislike him as a fighter as well.

As for Mousasi, as I noted in my comment, I'm still working through whether I can like him or not, depending on where I come down on non-UFC titles. That's tricky as well, though. Since he won Bellator gold, does that mean I can only like his fights (and him) there, but not the UFC or Pride ones? It's a conundrum.

Ok white belt

To address one point in the OP, yes I do think a schtick helps gain and maintain exposure. But if the guy was a duck and never broke the Top 10 instead of being Cowboy, it wouldn't have been as effective. Cerrone's career has earned him sainthood in the eyes of the all-seeing, all-bleeding eyes of the JBG.

Hendo never won a belt? He won two at the same time bruh

Read the second sentence of my post again.

He was never a champion though and lost a lot of important fights

Neither did the guy in your AV and he has never WON an important fight... or fought anyone even worth mentioning on a resume?

Can-crusher of the night bonus though.

Because he wanna be a cowboy, baby.
(With the top let back and the sunshine shining.)

Then I'mma Kid Rock it up and down your block with a bottle of scotch and watch lots of crotch. <Moves><Kpop775>

So who’s Cowboy’s best win?
GM3?

Edit, oh sorry thought you were asking about your can-crusher's best win in GM3.

Cowboy's is probably the current LW champ Charles Oliveira, Eddie Alvarez or Bendo. They are almost as good as GM3 though. /s
