You rebutted the article, while ignoring that the original point was that Trump is stupid for bringing up China with TPP.

That article proves that China is something to consider with TPP. They want in. You didn't rebut this point, you rebutted a ghost argument, which has been the status quo in this thread.

Yes, its stupid to bring China as a player in the TPP.

China dreaded the TPP because it puts the ball back in the US court, China at this point was so competitive and so globalized that it could literally do whatever it wanted and people would still need to buy cheap shit from them because it was the most competitive.

With the TPP now we have countries that will surpass China in competitiveness which will force China to either play ball and abide by the TPP or be left out.

Thats why China tried to create its own TPP and it failed miserably.

China isn't involved at all. They cannot be involved unless the parties to the agreement allow China to join. And when that time came, that's when we'd negotiate currency manipulation with China. That's leverage. And Trump is an idiot for bringing it up because, as he should know, you negotiate with parties that are actually part of the agreement. Not parties that are not part of the agreement. If China wants to join, they can negotiate. But to fault the TPP for not addressing China, which is not part of the agreement, is imbecilic. The fact that you don't understand this is doubly so.

I want to discuss how being the Republican nomination and being for "fair trade", puts anyone in a unique position to effect said change, because the Republican president would have natural allies to effect this across the aisle.

Basically the topic is supposed to be, about how Trump bucking the party line here, creates opportunity for real change, due to his ability to shape Republican policy from the White House, and the natural alliance of the pro-labor Dems.

Actually we rebutted the whole China in TPP, China is not a party negotiating in TPP and the TPP have a set of rules created by the US and co. Which China must adhere to in order to join the TPP.

Rules that are not dictated by China, thats actual legitimate leverage.

Here comes the strawman again. Nothing you said here is wrong. China is not apart of TPP today, but they could be in the future, and have indicated a potential want to be included.

Rebuttal to what exactly? Of course they would like to join. Doesn't address what Trump said. If he answered how the agreement was designed for China to come in and take advantage of us, then there could be a debate. He gave nothing to back that up of course.
