Why shouldn't Conor's return fight be Robbie Lawler?

Lawler showed very good cardio in his last fight.
His chin is still there and Conor does not have enough power to knock him out at 170.
So Conor automatically loses rounds 4 and 5. Probably 3 too.
Conor can win rounds 1-2, but what is that good for

How about Darren Elkins at LW? Would be a good test for Connor's cardio. Of course now that Cub cracked his chin.....

Conor/Cub should've happened at FW, would be cool now, but seems like Cub's moving down to BW.

I don't think Conor's gonna return and immediately drain down to LW to fight elite guys - much less the champ. So this Oliveira match up, I think, is a larp. Conor's entertaining it cause it keeps his name relevant.

How he came back the last time vs Cowboy - similarly sized LW/WW with some miles on him who isn't gonna wrestle - is what I expect from his return.

And what names fit that bill? Mas is still very good, RDA is still very hungry and Nate's just a weirdly problematic match up for him - I doubt he'd risk it against either right away. And, even though it would've been a cracker - Diego's out of the UFC as well.

So why not Lawler?

cause the nate fight pays more.

I think Conor should fight CM Punk in is return. It is the only way to guarantee he wins his next fight.... that or another old guy in a bar.

Punk beats Conor at this point. Pro wrestling is great exercise so I would expect Punk to win by cardio and heart. Punk is immune to being finished with strikes and we saw Conor go full McGregor-tard with strikes (kicks) to the point of breaking his own leg. Won't happen though as Conor doesn't want the smoke.

What about Hooker? Granted, he's a LW who's moving to FW, but he fought at HW before, and he loves to stand-n-bang, so Conor can use his lethal titanium leg kicks to finish what Barboza started.

Hooker would finish Conor I am pretty certain of that. He's a v dangerous fighter (yes I know he lost his last 2, but that was to top level opposition).
