What martial art teaches running?
The one that says you're getting jumped or the guy has a knife.
What martial art teaches running?
He was running away from Jones diving at his legs, so I don't really see how it makes him a "coward." At the same time, I don't imagine many wrestling coaches would call turning your back on a shot good wrestling technique, but he did avoid the takedown, so who am I to criticize?
Why is butt sex considered gay?
Some of Diaz's best moments happen when he can pin his opponent up against the cage. Why the hell Condit didn't let him do that is beyond me..
It's been awhile since I've seen that fight, but IIRC what condit did was different from gus. Did condit ever really completely disengage? He just wasn't his typical NBK self, throwing love taps and shit.
It's not running away its resetting in the middle so they don't have to square up and either get hit or get into a clinch. Are people that dumb they think Condit and Gus were "running"??

Gus and Condit in his fight against Diaz have both been criticized for "running away." It's a fight, right ? And if the idea is to inflict damage and not absorb any yourself, how exactly is running away from danger a bad thing ?

It's not like Gus doesn't fight - but on occasion when he feels cornered or in a bad position, he runs away from the fighter to create distance so he can regroup. Machida's style is based on this, in essence, but in a different way. Is Machida being cowardly but not engaging in this gif but backing away ?

No, people would call it smart strategy. Then why does Gus get shit ? It's basically a way to regroup, create distance, and avoid damage.

Absolutely nothing wrong with utilizing a lot of back-pedaling and even certain circumstances call for a fighter to literally 'run' away.
Doing it a lot will make blood-thirsty fans upset but it's not cowardly at all. The British must have thought Americans were all pussies when they saw them hiding behind trees/bushes instead of standing in a straight line.
It's been a while since i have seen it myself but from what I remember, Condit never "ran", he just made sure to keep his back off the cage.

You should have included Jones running away from Rampage.
At the end of the day, for viewers, it's entertainment. I want to see engagement. I don't care if it's grappling or striking. And I definitely don't want to see a complete lack of disengagement (Gus vs Condit).
Like I've said, there are other tactics to be employed instead of running. IMO, it was a desperation tactic that impeded my overall enjoyment of the fight. Just my opinion though.
I'm actually watching it now. So far, it's a different scenario. More one of disappointment due to expectations and that at the end of the day, this is entertainment for viewers than an extreme desperation tactic.
I don't think Condit ran, but I definitely think Gus ran. Gus flat out diengaged by turning his back and sprinting away from DC. I'm watching the condit fight now (free on YT) and so far condit clinches and/or circles but never turns his back anticipating a strike (one that technically can't be thrown due to the rules) or deliver one/shadow box/find range. You can reset without sprinting.
It would only help my argument as Jones is the GOAT. Running away is a legit tactic when no other options are available.
