Remember Nick Diaz v Paul Daley? Now image the potential of Hendricks v Nick Diaz. This is a great way to promote Hendricks facing a well known contender. Plus, if Henricks knocks Diaz the fuk out; it'll finally shut the Diaz fan boys up.Thoughts?
I've been saying the same thing, but all the Diaz haters are blinded by their hate, and blinded by their hate of GSP too, so of course they all want to see Hendricks get the shot, as they think he has the better chance of beating GSP with a bomb.
Diaz was the SF champ, lost a relatively close fight with Condit (no matter who you wanted to win, we can agree it was *relatively close*), and beat up BJ Penn.
Hendricks is on a nice streak, but he BARELY SQUEAKED by Kos and Pierce, one-punched Fitch (but I doubt that would happen again) and impressively laid out Kampmann, which was truly a good win for him.
I personally don't believe that Hendricks "deserves" a shot at GSP just yet, and would like to see him have to face any of Condit, Diaz or Ellenberger first. I thought it was amusing that Hendricks implied the division was cleared out and that GSP was the only one left, WHILE SITTING RIGHT BESIDE CONDIT at the post-fight conference.
Hendricks is smart though - he's seen others blow their shot by taking another fight first (and losing) or by keeping quiet and being leap-frogged by others (um...Sonnen getting Jones, anyone?)
Hendricks and his camp will wisely talk up GSP big time, in the hopes they aren't passed over for the Silva superfight, or Diaz, or some random 185 fight to prep for Silva.
