There's no privileges white people have that minorities don't in modern America. Anecdotal evidence exists, for sure, but that is not systemic. Companies should be able to hire whoever they want. If it's proven that they were discriminating on the basis of race, fucking fry 'em. That's illegal and has been for a while. You can't prevent every racist dickhead attaining the position as a hiring manager, but you can work to root out racist hiring practices wherever they can be proven.

If you had half a brain youd realize that it works the other way as well, and in the cases of workplaces where white men are the minority, DEI initiatives would assure their employment.

There is absolutely systemic empirical evidence of privileges regarding home loan interest rates, regarding sentencing when convicted of the same crimes, arrest rates for the same crimes, employment data, and now with these stupid school voucher initiatives, schools are actively rejecting minority children at higher rates.

No, according to you no one should merely be able to hire whoever they want. According to you they MUST be obligated to hire the best. That's what a merit-based system would necessitate. So if someone has a more qualified candidate who is black, and a less qualified one that is white...then they are absolutely just discriminating against the black candidate.

The truth of the matter is that nepotism, not merit, is the best indicator of success...and also preserves racial biases. Data has born out time and time again that people hire people they know and like, or their own relatives, regardless of who is qualified or not. So merit, as an argument against DEI, is just nonsense people say to preserve their own racial biases.

Byrd is a false equivalency fallacy common with the right that shows their level of political ignorance. Dare they bring up his voting record? Dare they bring up his personal writing later in life? Dare they bring up his own public renouncement of his previous views?

Byrd doesnt "deserve" a redemption arc, he lived one. He openly stated he shouldnt have voted against the Civil Rignts Act of 1964. He hired one of the first black Congressional Aides. He integrated the Capitol Police Force. He had a 100% rating by the NAACP because of his voting record, who penned him and obituary.

That being said I'm sure MAGAtards are perfectly comfortable telling the NAACP that they're incorrect in who they view as allied to black people or not.
