Why is a failed drug test an NC, not a DQ?

lol like football or basketball where they get tested once a year on a pre planned day? Clean sports lmao

Oh pfft I didn’t mean to imply that football or basketball or whatever is clean. I meant that MMA is kinda of a different sport where they have NC or fights overturned because of PEDS and all kinds of quirks.

No one is going to take away Tom Brady’s rings or overturn the results of the games he played in because his teammates juiced.

Same thing in Tennis, I think. You win matches, if it turns out you popped, I don’t think the Ws get turned into Ls or NC. Could be wrong, who knows.

But why is it different to any other form of intentional cheating in the cage that would lead to a DQ. Yan lost a world title on a DQ for an intentional foul. Why is juicing different?

Because it's not happening while the fight is ongoing. There are certain criteria both fighters agree to in order for the fight to occur (making weight, not taking PEDs, etc.), and different criteria both fighters agree to while the fight is actually in progress. The former results in no fight happening (either from cancelling beforehand or declaring it a no contest afterward). The latter results in disqualification.

They likely set out the precedent of just an NC way back in the day to prepare for the moment when Jones eventually needed it.
Wow. And he doesn't have to pay a penny of rent to live in your head this constantly.

Always wondered this. In any other sport that is drug tested with any sort of seriousness, like Olympic sports or cycling, if you fail a drug test pre or post competition, you are disqualified, your win is taken away and someone else is awarded the win. This can even happen years later if they re-test a sample with new technology. But in the UFC, if one fighter fails their test, the other does not win via DQ, instead it's considered an NC, a no-contest as if the fight never happened. Except the fight did happen and one of the fighters cheated in one of the worst ways you can possibly cheat. In any other sport that is a disqualification but in the UFC they just pretend nothing happened. Thoughts?
I think it just goes back to the UFC being patterned from boxing. As a failed test there is also a NC in every instance I know of.

Oh reading comprehension fail on my end. We are aligned.

I believe you're right about that and at first it was like boxing and drug tests, if they even had them in whatever state they were in were just IQ tests. But since the UFC went to Olympic style testing, they should take the consequences of the tests way more seriously which would include an automatic loss for intentional doping like they do in other sports that take testing 'seriously'

Never brought him up or said that. We are talking about fighters here I thought??
you where asking about ped abusers
i was just asking you if you believe ronnie coleman didnt abused peds
because obviously pride fighters just like ronnie coleman didnt popped for peds

Yep, the fight happens with an official winner and loser and those betting slips get cashed no matter what happens later.

That isn't true at all. The Olympics and the UFC are not sports either.

The UFC isn't the one that determines if it's a NC either. The UFC doesn't govern itself like the Olympics does.

Your examples would argue against your point because usually grabbing a cage and kneeing a downed opponent wouldn't lead to a DQ. The overwhelming majority of those fouls don't affect the decision of all.
