I believe Khamzat broke records for strikes landed and did next to no damage. No matter how you slice it being a dominant wrestler and holding someone in position and throwing a bajillion pitter patter punches is wrestling masked with weak gnp. There isn’t a soul that believed DDP a superior wrestler. It in many ways feels like Khamzat nullified a fight actually occurring until the clock ran out. What Khamzat was doing could have gone on another 10 rounds with neither man hurt so how the hell is that not nullifying a fight occurring? Imagine if Jones did the same shit instead of hellbows how much more he would be hated?
99% of the mma fanbase has no interest in watching a wrestling match or wrestling would have a much bigger fanbase. Nobody wants to hear Dick Mcdojo telling you because you don’t watch grappling sports for entertainment you are a casual when you actually grappled lol. Grappling is great to train but boring as fuck to watch. I daydreamed during wrestling meets in high school until it was my match. Perhaps after 2 minutes just take a fucking point from DDP and stand the fucking fight up. IMO that has to be implemented in Chimaev fights because he will keep that same strategy of turning potential epic fights to wrestling matches. I hated watching it with zero apologies

DPP lost in embarrassing fashion last night. I'm sorry if your guy can't defend a takedown and doesn't know basic techniques like fighting the hands to break a body lock. Gilbert Burns had a guard on the ground which caused Khamzat to stand up....maybe DPP should train that. DPP failed to do anything at all. Did you see DPP try to granby roll? He looked so silly.

DDP is not my guy dickface and it’s not my fault you like boring shit that would bankrupt an organization

I'm a fan of both fighters and I also enjoyed the hell out of that fight. Personally I don't mind watching someone absolutely dominate the other fighter even when it's grappling based because I can appreciate the skill discrepancy. DDP just had nothing for him. To be locked up in a crucifix for that long across four rounds is nothing short of absolute dominance. That's part of mixed martial arts, the fight can take place anywhere and you need to prepare appropriately imo. Dudes are just going to have to figure him out or figure out a way to counter that style. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Edit: I also think a lot of fans are now getting more easily butthurt about this kind of stuff now that betting is involved. Personally I think it is hurting the sport more than helping it.

That's true. The only time Jones' fights went the distance was when almost the entire fight was on the feet. Jones never had a 5-rounder where he just smothered someone. If the fight was on the ground long enough, he ended it with elbows or a sub.

Dominant grapplers have existed since the UFC's beginning.
So has lay and pray being heavily frowned on. Just because he increased the pitter in his patter a pinch and the dominance of his position it is still let me hold you down for 25 minutes. If that is your form of entertainment and you find the organization turning into that enjoyable I don’t know what to call you friend. Perhaps potentially gay? No disrespect

Homie he could have remained in that same crucible until this point we are talking and I would be so impressed but want to watch it more than 2 minute stretches? FUCK NO

DDP showed a lot of heart but didn't even know how to sprawl or control the wrists (the basics). His coach had no better advice than to say "you need to finish him". Muslim dude completely dominated, but this need to be said: wtf were those lame ass knee strikes to the butt, those fast-aborted attempts to choke a guy he had full control of and those pillow fisted hand strikes? Muslim dude did not wanted to finish the fight. Sports betting is a cancer.

  1. Yes, it was an awful watch. But that's the way it goes sometimes.
  2. DDP is equally to blame for the lack of action. His TDD is/was ATROCIOUS and, once taken down, he just turtled up and let the rounds slip away.
  3. Guys like Fluffy and Caio would be very different fights for Khamzat because they would keep scrambling; they wouldn't just accept bad positions, meaning they'd open up and either get finished or make Khamzat work until he potentially gasses. Those are the fights to make.

I don't agree with much that you say but this makes a lot of sense.

In every sport, when someone figured out a way to game the system and in the process, diminish the sport, the sport fought back and changed the rules for it's own survival.

  • When Al Jabbar parked under the goal and swatted any shot that could go in, they outlawed 'goal tending'.

  • When Dizzy Dean would start a pitch to home plate and then throw a pick-off to first, they outlawed the 'balk'.

  • If a soccer player just stood by the opposite goal and waited for a pass, they outlawed 'off sides'.

  • When a defender in football tackles a receiver before they can catch the ball, they outlawed 'pass interference'

If a goat fucker wins a fight by applying a body lock on an opponent for 25 minutes without doing ANY damage, it's killing the sport and the sport must fight back by changing the rules.
