Acclimatisation, landing the equipment on the surface etc.

Dude it's really quite simple. Going to the moon is sort of like riding a roller coaster. You stand in line for hours all the while that tension builds up, you're full of wonder, how high will you go? You try to imagine what it is that you will see up there. This is what keeps you going as you wait in line.
But how many times can a person ride the same damned ride in a row, eventually that rollercoaster gets boring. Why risk the human life, why spend so much money on a boring, time consuming mission. We have already been to the moon, I'm sure not much has changed. There won't suddenly be an exotic piece of moon dust which will capture our imagination. The moon is the same it always was, this is precisely why it is the moon.

Oh and to all of you flat earthers, I think that you seriously need to seek help. You have been force feed Christian propaganda. This heaping pile of utter trash known as the flat earth theory comes fromrom the same brilliant minds who believe that dinosaurs never existed and are a massive govt cover up. Obviously it wasn't faked. There are mirrors they left on the moon that we can shoot lasers at so as to determine the changing distance so it's externally verifiable.

Also the most expensive part was the rocket, which we know they built. Easier to actually land on the moon than fake it after putting the people right up there anyway.

Also there would be tons of hard evidence and testimonials from people involved that just ain't there. Other powers would have uncovered the ruse.

It's a nonsense for people who prefer a story to obvious reality.

There's not a whole lot to do up there, other than leave mirrors and flags so we can prove we've been there. not really sure what the purpose of going back is

NASA has sad that manned expeditions are a spectator sport, we get a lot more information from sending robots and rovers to space, for a lot cheaper with less complications. Like the mars rover can get way more info back than any manned expedition but we all want to put a man there so we can circlejerk about visiting other planets

From watching many episodes of Ancient Aliens and Hangar 1, my guess is the aliens on the dark side of the moon communicated with them to stay away from their turf.
