if Silva didn't decide to clown around so much, even old Silva still would have won that fight.
Anderson and Weidman fought for a total of 12 and a half minutes in the cage and in that time frame Silva was almost knocked out on two separate occasions, was legitimately knocked out once, and had his leg broken. At literally no point in those 12 and a half minutes was Anderson ever winning, or was even remotely competitive with Weidman. 15 minutes is the normal length of time a fight is. If those two fights were the same fight, and Anderson had somehow survived, Weidman would've won a clear decision

He almost conned his way back into the first fight near the end.

The man is a master of deception.

In the first fight Weidman won the first round 10-9 with all 3 judges. The second round lasted 1 minute and in that minute Anderson landed a grand total of 5 leg kicks then was knocked unconscious... Anderson was punched in the face by Weidman more than he landed strikes in general in this round.

There is nothing that happened in actual reality that says Anderson was coming back into the fight.

I mean he landed a good punch when old Silva was being a goof, hats off to him but if Silva didn't decide to clown around so much, even old Silva still would have won that fight. Fuck around and find out is a fitting description of course. Also if you listen to the way Silva was talking before the fight it did not sound good, sounded like he didn't want to be there. I had a bad feeling about this one and as a Silva fan I didn't watch. Felt like he was going to knock Silva out.
Yeah, I believe Anderson fought Bonnar at LHW (non-title) before this and at one point let Bonnar tee off on him. Bonnar's hands weren't too heavy, but he was a huge LHW and former Golden Gloves boxer. Anderson was getting too old to clown so much. That's a game for younger guys with peak reflexes.

The amount of mental gymnastics people go through in this place to discredit fighters they don't like, and excuses for their favourites is ridiculous.
38 is still 38, though. Lidell was 38 when he lost his belt to Rampage. He threw a risky shot and left himself wide open. At that age you have to modify your style and fight smarter to have any chance of being a champ.

You should hear the "past prime" excuses Fedor fans give for him losing to Hendo, who was 6 years older (40 vs. 34) and 20 pounds lighter.

Yeah he was trying to clown weidman but wasnt fast enough to actually do it. His body wasnt obeying him as it once did

Ok but Fedor's strength of schedule, long time on top, using a hyper aggressive nuclear explosive style, would wear anyone out after 10 yrs. Also consider most fighters not losing for that long, cant just pick up where they left off. Anderson sure didnt.

This is cope.

Chris beat Anderson in 4 out of 4 rounds that they competed in.

Anderson was also roided and 100% would have started losing years earlier if he wasn't a juciehead.

Truth hurts.

I think he burnt through his goodwill by being a bit of an asshole and flaming out hard. He really got what he deserved vs Mousasi and that double-eyepoke KO of Silva, and his reaction to it, is some all time bullshit.

He got tons of credit at the time. And for beating Vitor and Lyoto as well. All three were huge wins. People thought he was the future of the division. And in a way, he was. I mean, he had an amazing run, beating three all-time greats back to back. Nothing can erase that. I'm not a fan, but it is what it is.
Are you saying...

He's not your boy?

I remember hastily reading the PBP while working the cash register at a B&N. I was absolutely crushed and disillusioned, until I got home and watched fight.
After that I kinda remember just feeling cheated, by Anderson. Cheated out of a good, competitive matchup, and really, cheated out of getting to continue to enjoy his run. The clowning really angered the just bleed gods something fierce imo.

I knew the Chris might have still won both fights without the controversies due to him just being really hot shit at MW at the time, but I never felt like I got anything definitive out of those two fights.
I did give the Chris some credit though for a couple years. Until his losing streak, and then everything kinda just became, "meh, I guess the division's moved on from both."
I'd actually like to see them fight now though LMAO.
