#stillmyboy2025I never said it didn't earn ANY respect.
but what are names like Werdum, Weidman and Tarver next to GSP, Anderson Silva and Roy Jones in the grand scheme of things?

Anderson and Weidman fought for a total of 12 and a half minutes in the cage and in that time frame Silva was almost knocked out on two separate occasions, was legitimately knocked out once, and had his leg broken. At literally no point in those 12 and a half minutes was Anderson ever winning, or was even remotely competitive with Weidman. 15 minutes is the normal length of time a fight is. If those two fights were the same fight, and Anderson had somehow survived, Weidman would've won a clear decisionif Silva didn't decide to clown around so much, even old Silva still would have won that fight.
Guessing this is in response to the fedor thread.
Anderson was 38, at MW that’s a death sentence. Just wasn’t the same guy.
Prime Anderson would be favoured to win that fight.
He almost conned his way back into the first fight near the end.Anderson and Weidman fought for a total of 12 and a half minutes in the cage and in that time frame Silva was almost knocked out on two separate occasions, was legitimately knocked out once, and had his leg broken. Being in your prime and the first guy to beat an aged legend never earns much respect.
In the first fight Weidman won the first round 10-9 with all 3 judges. The second round lasted 1 minute and in that minute Anderson landed a grand total of 5 leg kicks then was knocked unconscious... Anderson was punched in the face by Weidman more than he landed strikes in general in this round. He almost conned his way back into the first fight near the end.
The man is a master of deception.
It's pure revisionist history. Anderson being the favorite in the 2nd fight tells you everything.Funny how this became the narrative afterwards…
Silva was a -250 favorite and no one was talking about him being old and past his prime prior to the fight. Hell he was the favorite in the rematch too.
oh shitBecause Silva was 38+ and was goofing around in the first fight, and got injured in the second fight.
The amount of mental gymnastics people go through in this place to discredit fighters they don't like, and excuses for their favourites is ridiculous.oh shit
38+
thats way worse than being 38!
Yeah, I believe Anderson fought Bonnar at LHW (non-title) before this and at one point let Bonnar tee off on him. Bonnar's hands weren't too heavy, but he was a huge LHW and former Golden Gloves boxer. Anderson was getting too old to clown so much. That's a game for younger guys with peak reflexes.I mean he landed a good punch when old Silva was being a goof, hats off to him but if Silva didn't decide to clown around so much, even old Silva still would have won that fight. Fuck around and find out is a fitting description of course. Also if you listen to the way Silva was talking before the fight it did not sound good, sounded like he didn't want to be there. I had a bad feeling about this one and as a Silva fan I didn't watch. Felt like he was going to knock Silva out.
38 is still 38, though. Lidell was 38 when he lost his belt to Rampage. He threw a risky shot and left himself wide open. At that age you have to modify your style and fight smarter to have any chance of being a champ. The amount of mental gymnastics people go through in this place to discredit fighters they don't like, and excuses for their favourites is ridiculous.
Yeah he was trying to clown weidman but wasnt fast enough to actually do it. Ok but Fedor's strength of schedule, long time on top, using a hyper aggressive nuclear explosive style, would wear anyone out after 10 yrs. Also consider most fighters not losing for that long, cant just pick up where they left off. Anderson sure didnt.38 is still 38, though. Lidell was 38 when he lost his belt to Rampage. You should hear the "past prime" excuses Fedor fans give for him losing to Hendo, who was 6 years older (40 vs. 34) and 20 pounds lighter.

Are you saying...He got tons of credit at the time. And for beating Vitor and Lyoto as well. All three were huge wins. People thought he was the future of the division. And in a way, he was. I mean, he had an amazing run, beating three all-time greats back to back. Nothing can erase that. I'm not a fan, but it is what it is.
That's some fucked up shit! Are you saying...
He's not your boy?
