Why Do Some Big MMA Fighters Have No Chests?

often having broad shoulders take your pecs out of a lot of lifts since your ROM is slightly different. not even mentioning that the muscle is spread over a larger area

its a common thing in bodybuilding, also why super broad buys like jones and gsp have almost no chest

gsp and jon jones both have pretty proportoined pecks they aren't like the fighters shown before..

also your bro science is retarded... big shoulders hinders pecks? wtf maybe if you have the most terrible shit form of all time..

you really shouldn't reply with this idiotic crap.

Lol. Amazing pecs.

I said great, not pretty good.

Alis... Oh
Hect...oh
Rousi...oh
Guess big pecs is a curse

Some fighters do, some don't. Chest size doesn't correlate to fighter's ability any significant way, that's why you see fighters of all kinds of different builds.
Slows down punching speed, technique and flexibility
Developed pecks aren't gonna make you a worse fighter, they won't give you any advantage either.

You can also add Carlos Condit, BJ Penn, Gustafson, Diaz bros, Anderson Silva, Pettis, Aldo, KZ, Cerrone, and host of other fighters to that list.

I suffer from this condition lol

Im big every where. But no matter how hard i train my pecs, they barely develope. I feel for these poor guys ;)

its a common thing, do pushups with your hands close together more importantly, medial (closer to your center) of your shoulders, uses less chest and more tricep. move your hands distal(farther from your center) of your shoulders and it uses more pectoral muscles. now imagine you have your hands distal from your shoulders and then your shoulders expanded so that your hands are now medial, uses a lot less pectorals.

people with broader shoulders have that effect slightly happening to them their entire training career while striking, grappling, calisthenics and tons of other situations. unless they purposely adjust or lift with focus on their pecs.

Yup champs are only pretty good and not great

If you want to consider those two guys as being great, that's fine, I have little interest in debating. To me they are pretty good heavyweights who had their moments. I wouldn't call them great. But to each their own.

edit: a picture not after a weight cut dehydrated.

when you flex like that it pulls your peck back... he has normal pecks for a guy his size...

and look at every guy with huge pecks.. they almost ALL are broad guys. I don't see how you can make that argument.

you think being broad makes your arm positioning for pushups, training, callistenics, all incorrect resulting in smaller pecks?

you're just incorrect man...

in order for pectoral muscles to be the main mover, your hands have to be distal from your shoulders

having broader shoulders means your hands are distal less often than if your shoulders are more narrow

ergo having broader shoulders means your pectorals are used less often

you can post pictures all day with the camera below jones pecs aimed upwards with the light source above them giving a sense of depth with shadows
