I see grapplers push to create space all the time.
Developing strength is perfectly bilateral and linear A to B fashion will make you safely stronger at less than perfect situations as well.

But personally, I train my fighters with a lot more posterior chain training, as well as explosive lifts, plyo work...moderate weights but high reps. Plus lots of kb swings and snatches, hypertrophy is almost never a goal for my athletes

Prime fedor had pecs. His chest and overall body was more developed and muscular...not ripped but a muscular broYeah you definitely need the big pecs to be successful in MMA.
