Why did you guys used to hate DC back in the day

You really want to compare this to Jones and Conor behavior?
Being caught cheating on the scale, as he obviously was and even admitting he did, would've instantly resulted in being stripped of his title, no fight required.

It's definiely worse than maybe losing after the fight. The fight should've never occurred.

i was always a big DC fan and still am, especially earlier in his career but like him a bit less after he started doing commentary cause he always wants to be the center of attention. the one up contests he had with rogan were pretty bad, but seem better these days.

but his chemistry with khabib was the best. they were literally like brothers

i love how he changes his speech when talking to khabib to help him learn english

I was a fan of DC since his start in Strikeforce at HW, undersized guy taking on giants and throwing them. Then I sort of didn't like his first fights in UFC. They were pretty boring though taking Mir and Roy Nelson to decision. Then he drops down to LHW and fights last minute Cummins, which he looked good but that's almost can level. In the Hendo fight he just bullied the old man and it felt sad, like DC was a giant in comparison.

However, after that he only fought legit guys. The only fight after I didn't like was Anderson Silva fight, but I think DC just sort of carried him so it didn't look like a total mismatch. Or out of respect for the late notice. Some people didn't like his cheating later on, but I'm at the point where I've accepted it's part of the meta that if UFC allows it, then it's fair game. Plus I give him credit for being old and sticking to it.

i can tell you from my personal experience that most of the why did you guys, did not hate dc back in the day.

What do you mean "used to"?

As a mixed martial artist, DC achieved way more that I possibly thought he would have. I doubted him nearly every step of the way. I think he fought clean and square, and he was reliable. While the (basically worthless now) double-champ status lives on, DC pulled it off better than the others. Honestly, I don't even hold the crying against him when he came up short in losses. But I believe athletes take losses harder than fighters do, and MMA came as an afterthought to DC, so I kind of get it. I've seen pro ball, hockey, and football players cry my whole life, DC bawling isn't anything crazy or wild.

And because he mostly fought high-level fighters, the guy really should be considered an all-time great.

That being said...

As a person, the dude is an absolute ass-kissing tryhard who NEEDS to be liked and seen as the good guy. I fucking hate his colour-commentary and inserting himself as examples when he's trying to make a point, much like trying to listen to a play-by-play with Joe calling a Diaz fight. Everything about DC just oozes phoniness. If he were shit-canned tomorrow I would be surprised if I even had feelings over it.

Jealousy, man could eat so much popeyes chicken and still be an elite athlete and UFC champion
