Why did Conor take the Khabib fight?

illegal or not khabibs on coach admitted he was the toughest fight so I'm gonna go with that

And there we have it.

PS Coaches are not the best source despite closeness to a fighter, they are very influenced in their opinions.

I understand why Khabib fans are confused by the concept of not pulling out.

You're used to your boy having a cake and catching a plane when shit gets tough.

Hell, you're probably wondering why Conor didn't just stay on the bus right? :D

Not a great fighter lol. You guys aren't even trying anymore.
Well he's not a great fighter, ma'am.

Great fighters don't lose to a Diaz brother and win a close decision in the rematch.

Should've retired after Floyd he absolutely didn't need what the UFC paid him for that fight and could've branched into other things. The Khabib and Cowboy fights were unecessary imo after the status he got to.

what’s wrong with you people.

I’m not a Conor fan but he’s one of the greatest LW and FW mma fighters of all time:

his two losses were to the LW goat and the boxing goat.

Respect him.

There is truth in what you say. In many ways, Conor deserves respect. He is a physical specimen, and a terrific athlete, with heavy hands and the ability to put almost anyone away.

The trouble with Conor McGregor is his mouth; he comes across like a complete asshole.
Even though Conor is terrifically talented, his mouth was so intolerable to listen to, his ego so over-inflated, that he became literally unbearable.
Worse, after running his mouth so badly, talking about his bravery/ability, HE QUITS EVERY TIME HE LOSES.

Out of one side of McGregor's mouth, he tells Cowboy Cerrone,"Whoever goes for a takedown is a bitch" (because he feared Cerrone's ground game), and yet the first thing Conor did when out-punched by Nate Diaz in their first fight was, "Go for the takedown," and give up his back so he could get finished "peacefully."

Conor has repeatedly proven he will NEVER GO DOWN SWINGING. He quits every time, literally giving up his back, so he can be "finished quickly," as pain-free as possible, the moment he gets a little windy and makes the assessment he can no longer win.

While a tremendous talent, athletically, Conor McGregor's heart isn't really there, at the highest level, once he calculates that he can no longer win.

It is this dark spot, this "hole in his heart," that makes Conor's absolute arrogance all the more unbearable.

I agree that it was likely Khabib's toughest fight (bar Tibau), but the cheating is definately a factor why. Conor cheated from the start of the bell.

Damn that's crazy that Aldo, Poirier, Mendes, Cowboy, Holloway, Alvarez all lost to a bum.

Step your troll game up. Weak.

Same reason why he fought mayweather, he had no business being in the ring with mayweather yet he fought.
His a prize fighter thats what he does. Khabib was the biggest fight for him in mma in terms of rewards and it was 2.4 million buys plus promotion of proper 12.

Do I think Conor knew Khabib was a bad style matchup? Yes. But I do think Conor still thought he had a chance, though even he must've had a lot of doubts. Too much had already happened esp after Khabib's confrontation with Artem, if he didn't fight Khabib, it would've gone down as 1 of the biggest ducks of all time in MMA. He kind of had to, couldn't find a good reason not to take the fight, even though I'm sure he knew Khabib was the worst style matchup for him. Conor is an elite fighter, but even if they fought 5 times, I'd only pick Conor to win once via some punchers chance (T)KO or something

You're a saucy little nutcake, little lady!

Khabib is a pillow fisted T-Rex with a giant melon and goofy stand up skills who, up until that point, had mainly beaten up on average talent. Yes, a lot of people thought Conor could beat him. I was only 60/40 leaning Khabib myself.

why did he take the fight ?

- khabib had been calling him out for a while. khabib punked his boy Lobov.
- money
- he listened to his delusional fans and thought he had a chance.
- drugs / coke / alcohol -- false sense of confidence.

Delusional.

Thought he was elite.
Found out he wasn't

He’s not elite because he lost to the LW Goat? Makes sense....

Let me guess, you also thought there wasn’t any election fraud too, amirite?

It makes sense that the troglodytes who think the election was rigged are the same ones who can't string together a coherent sentence.

Conor is a beta، just as Khabib is. And he and his fanboys cry and whinge, just as you're doing when it comes to the election.

People with eyes did not think so, in fact anyone who knew anything about MMA could tell you Conor had a punchers chance, and thats it.

the alquinta fight made khabib look very amateruish. conor was right in thinking he had more than a punchers chance.

Whatever his reasons, he clearly regretted it by the time the cage door was locked.
