Severn got caught in subs by Royce and Ken. He was super careful not to get caught again. When he got top position fight 2 with Ken he whooped some ass
They did pure wrestling for several minutes
They grappled in their second fight but it wasn't pure wrestling. In wrestling you can't choke nor strike. Ken was looking for subs and both men were striking. Also Dan was gassed during that exchange.
Without rewatching, I'd say Ken had the much better striking and had solid subs and TDD. That's enough to cause problems.
They definitely did not. That’s like saying an MMA fight where no grappling occurs is a pure kickboxing match.
You can't compensate a lifetime of elite wrestling with roids.
Was Shamrock a very talented wrestler?
Shamrock was a decent grappler who caught a wrestler in a submission. It helps that he was probably juiced to the gills
Fight was under 3 min but I agree they did grapple a lot. They did not "pure wrestle".They grappled a lot in the first fight. Both men fresh
I can rewatch the first. Don't ask me to watch the 30 min second one lol.Watch the first fight
GTFO you moronGuillitones are part of amatuer wrestling as controlling moves. It"s nothing new to him. Severn should have taken him down Long before that
But when they did he got caughtThey didn't wrestle for a few seconds...
Catch wrestling implements pure wrestling in it. The The Gracie's even took from its benefits. Bastard love child of Judo and catch.Guillitones are part of amatuer wrestling as controlling moves. It"s nothing new to him. Severn should have taken him down Long before that
Shamrock is not a wrestler. He dabbled in regional wrestling in school. Severn was a World Cup winner.
What's even more illogical is that Shamrock had no chance against Tito, who is a far worse wrestler than Severn.
Shamrock was a wrestler. He started as a pure wrestler and then became a professional catchwrestler. And he also tried out for the Olympics at one point (but I've heard it was walk-on try-outs). Saying he wasn't a wrestler is stupid.
There are stories of Ken being a pretty good wrestler in his prime, plus he trained with a lot of really good Catch wrestlers in Japan who had gnarly subs. Plus he was super athletic back then. Pretty sure Mark Coleman said Ken was a good wrestler.
He wasn"t an amatuer or Olympic wrestler.
Catch wrestlers have nowhere near the takedown skills of an amatuer and Olympic wrestlers.
So how did Royce sub him? Royce was pretty much the weakest Gracie
