Why aren't Superman punches used as much these days?

James Irvin knocked out Houston Alexander with it but I can’t find a full gif anywhere.

Dillashaw and Garbrandt use them still. TJ doesnt throw it as often as he used to though.

They tend to be more of a stylistic for points punch than a firm standard effective punch, although if well timed and well placed they can be effective ala Anthony Pettis and GSP who had great timing with his Superman punch.

There's a reason why no good boxer uses it
Boxing lacks wrestling take downs and striking below the waist and leg kicks, knees, shin and elbow strikes. The Superman punch is a long distance control device much like front kicks or oblique kicks to the knee area (push kick to the knee). MMA is generally fought at a further distance vs. boxing due to leg kicks and takedowns.

It’s a low percentage move, besides that, If you misread your opponent or don’t execute the timing correctly it leaves you badly out of position, in your opponents wheel well, while exposed... I mean what could possibly go wrong

Are they hard to execute effectively?
I'm sure years ago we saw more fighters throwing these type of punches. Bisping and GSP used them quite a lot.
In last weekend's Fight Night 188, there was one fighter, i can't recall his name, i THINK it was Barnett, who threw a number of them. Apart from him i don't remember seeing many fighters using this technique of late.
I thought the exact same thing myself.

Need great skill and timing to pull it off effectively, just looks flashy otherwise.
