Why Are Transformers Cars?

Some of the good ones were dinosaurs and they were dumb as hell.

Starscream was the best. When I was a kid I used to get a kick out of all the infighting between Megatron and SS.

They had a great hate bromance for sure. My favorite scenes between them, both from the movie:

Not above kicking Megatron when he is down:

and volunteering to get rid of some scrap:

ill admit i did like Blackout. Decepticons were GOAT

I hate all the Bay movies, but I will admit, that was a badass intro. The idea of a "phantom" helicopter that had been confirmed as being shot down in another country suddenly appearing without warning. I also liked how in the early movies they actually tried to preserve the look of vehicle parts while in robot mode, and tried to preserve conservation of mass. Unlike the later films where they're just generically styled robots and look nothing like a "robot in disguise."

Bonecrusher was another cool Decepticon from the same film:

Not quite how I remembered it.

Imagine if all the combiners joined to form one Super Combiner. Fifteen robots to make one giant-assed Decepticon.

Fukn bumblebee was originally a yellow VW bug!

You can thank GM for that. They wanted exclusive rights to the vehicles in the films. I too would have preferred something more accurate to the cartoons. But it's hard to say no when the company is donating the vehicles for free.

The dynamic of a villain having to deal with another villain was always interesting to me.

Have you watched Beast Wars? Terrorsaur was a Starscream clone in personality and ambition.

They even brought back Starscream himself in one episode:

Waaaaaaaayyyyyyy back in the day before most of you young'uns were born...

I was watching the premiere episode of Transformers on T.V. One of the humans actually asked.. "Why are you guys cars, tanks, planes, etc.." Optimus prime answered "It was the best way for us to camouflage ourselves so we could move about on Earth".

That's why the Dinobots are Dinosaurs.. They arrived here too soon.

How come they are cars and the deceptocons are Tanks, planes and boomboxs and all types of cool stuff but Autobots are just auto. I get the name but why limit themselves like that. Why not turn into planes and fly everywhere instead of having to be carried overseas by our boats and planes. Doesnt make sense.
And this is why I love Sherdog.

Two of the best segments of Transformers ever.

Transformers as office equipment like typewriters, shredders, file cabinets, wouldn't have sold as many toys.
