How come they are cars and the deceptocons are Tanks, planes and boomboxs and all types of cool stuff but Autobots are just auto. I get the name but why limit themselves like that. Why not turn into planes and fly everywhere instead of having to be carried overseas by our boats and planes. Doesnt make sense.

boys like cars, trucks, and heavy equipment. transformers was created to solely sell toys.

Wasnt one of them a boombox? Man i miss the nineties

Wasnt one of them a boombox?

He was a bad guy

I think the back story is to do with where they originally landed / woke up.

If i remember rihjtlythe Decepticons were near an airforce base, hence they're planes etc.

The Autobots were somewhere urban, so cars.

I think this is all covered in the first series of the cartoon.

Dam I just looked him up and forgot all about him. But still why a boombox instead of plane or tank. A boombox still have to be carried around and can only use weapons in bot form, limiting his powers

yeah but in the movies they transfer their power over to NEW cars, why not plane inztead of car.

He could shoot mini robots in the form of cassette tapes out to do his bidding. Not sure what they were but he was probably just a clone of soundwave due to lazy writing

Something I was wondering as well. And on that same note, the new movie looks to have some scenes of transformers back in medieval times, wtf did they transform into back then? Catapults?

I am watching Revenge of the Fallen now Nd dam Bumble Bee a bitch for leaving Opmtis out there by himslef to fight 5 on 1. That was some punk shit.

it was largely just to keep consistency, all the good guys are cars, the bad guys are generally other things

also, the autobots routinely help humans, have them as passengers while the decepticons don't.....so cars make sense

Not that a 'jet' or other vehicle can't have passengers, but a boombox can't for instance.

They still have to scan what is around them. You see them do it in the first movie.

If there were planes around then I don't see why they couldn't be planes.

That was your first mistake...

On Cybertron, Autobots were like human civilians. Decepticons were the military.

They weren't all cars either. In the movie, there's Percepter that turns into a microscope/telescope thing. Skyhigh was a helicopter, Cloudburst was a jet, and there was a couple more that transformed together into one big bot.
Some weren't Earth vehicles either, the one's that hover were Cybertronian vehicles.

@Cheese He's in the original move cartoon. He transmits a signal that the base is being attacked. You could say he was their communications officer.

The majority are cars, but they do have a radio, a microscope, a UFO, a boat, some planes, etc.
