That's not necessarily true. Modern technology has also enabled serial killers to be better at concealment.
Crime is always one step ahead of law enforcement.

No they are not.
Mass shootings have always been there.
And "Mass shootings" arent even mass shootings, they are mostly gang or hood shootings that they now classify to drum up that narrative.

Serial Killers operate on a different wave length. Vastly different than just some guy shooting 3 people in a grocery store.

Thats why "True Crime" stories are popular.
The Dahmer show and Bundy shows were extremely popular on Netflix/FX.

Theres a romanticism about Serial Killers. There really isnt for Mass Shooters.

The Columbine shooters were the only ones that got that treatment, but everyone after that was like autistic or just a loser and no ones really interested in those lame dick stories.
Serial Killers have alot more of a "Story".
They do things for a reason, pick certain people for a reason, have an agenda or something they are trying to get or get off themselves.
They go on for years, they do things like leave clues, and whatever. Taunt police, taunt the media.

Way more going on with those crazy idiots than some fuckin nobody, who got called 'Tard Boy' his whole life and now shoots his former school up.
Those arent interesting because you already know why he did it, and when they look into the suspects life, its mundane boring shit.

Im sure i posted my opinon in this thread before but its kinda captian obvious because they will get caught nowadays with DNA and camera's. Unless they are stupid serial killers.
 
Mix of technology and social awareness.

Heard about some killer on a podcast few weeks ago who just drove around the countryside killing hitchhiking teenage girls. I doubt that would work nowadays.

Probably still plenty of these cases in less developed countries but we don't hear about them.
 
Cellphones really fuck would be serial killers. Every victim can sneak out a panic message/call before you kill them. Also victims of serial killers are 99% female. Every female lives on their phone and tells the world their Every movement.

Would be killers fuck up by taking their phone with them, then cops effortlessly triangulate their location proving they were A)where the victim was found dead B)at that time.

So big brain killers leave their phone home or turn it off. Which the cops can see. "Why did you turn your phone off for 2 hours when it was at 93% battery." Etc.

I also think girls are just better today at picking up on "this guy is fucking weird" vibes

They're not going to be a successful branch because following society's rules would be a good adaptation, and these guys don't do that so they get killed or imprisoned and don't pass on their genes as often as those who don't get arrested or killed.

If your talking about pure "anger" though I would say that seems like its stronger with mass shooters, serial killers very often there seems to be some kind of sexual element involved.

I think mass shooters as well do tend to do it for the "glamour" more, serial killers hope to avoid ever being discovered, mass shooters know they will be and certain parts of the net(which they probably were part of) do very much glamourise them.
 
People are much softer on average these days and have vast amounts of really fucked up porn to wank to. So lesser % of perverts carry their twisted ideas to physical world, they either wank to stuff from darknet or off themselves.

Also harder to hide your trails due to surveillance and forensic tech, usually they get caught faster than they can rake in a substantial amount of kills.

Serial killers get remembered.
No one remembers Mass Shooters.

And serial killers seem way more angry than mass shooters.
Mass shooters want to have pity and be loved and be known.
Serial killers don't try to get caught.
They are doing it for essentially a "real" reason. Whether it's anger or gratification or whatever their reason is.
They kill and go back to normal life and then kill and then back to normal life.
Way more intelligent and sinister than mass shooters it seems.

it's not typical for SKs to target Fortune 500 CEOs
 
I think just the definition had changed. There had been a paradigm shift in how we envision killers. Serial killers are singular. Mass shooters now have stolen the spotlight so to speak
 
We are stupider and get caught sooner because of it. There are probably a few out there who still have the intelligence to carry them out. They will also be smart enough to vary the design and style of the killings. Patterns and hallmarks get you caught. Traditional serial killers were easier to catch as you looked for the similarities of how the victims were dispatched.

Idk bruh. There’s been 12 murders in my small town and 4 missing people, 3 of which are indigenous women. May not be a serial killer but the world is a terribly ugly place.

That was kinda off topic. Anyways my theory is there’s just as many but they’ve gotten smarter over the years. I only believe this because I refuse to believe something so evil has been phased out. I’m an optimist! :p
 
They've evolved, so to speak. I've been watching tons of documentaries on the gang wars in Chicago and there's plenty of them still around. Basically, there's a bunch of spree killers, mass shooters, "crash test dummies", and legit murder for hire hitmen just walking around apartment projects these days.

If you're interested in checking it out, two crash test dummies who got killed before they could be convicted are 051 Melly and King Von. Tons of primary documentation between their Twitter/Instagram accounts and FOIA requests on their investigations are available, and streamers have created a ton of content based on these and their fellow respective gang members work.
