Rampage and Glover have paid their dues more. Glover finally got into UFC and now the flyweights are main eventing over him and Rampage?

Shouldn't Rampage vs Glover be 5 rounds? Isn't the flyweight title match headlining robbing us from that?

Anyway who is going to watch the show is going to give a crap about the flyweight title match more than Rampage Jackson. If anyone is going to draw in the viewers it is going to be Rampage, so why isn't he the main event if he is the one drawing in the viewers and he has paid his dues more?

You could also make a case for Pettis and Cerrone being above the flyweights, with them having paid just as much dues and Pettis being more recognizable to the public because of the Showtime Kick.

Why should either of these fights be below the Championship match for the "I Can't Beat Dominic Cruz" Division?

Championship fights headline, it's that simple.

Championship fights usually headline no matter what.

Just like Rousey/Carmouche is headlining over Machida/Hendo.

Machida/Hendo paid their dues, Rampage as well. But since it's Rousey:

Exactly, it is that simple. Yet the people who complain about Rousey vs Carmouche can't seem to be able to get this simple fact through their head.

It isn't about who deserves to main event and it isn't even about the fight that is going to draw in the most viewers main eventing. The title matches always headline because it shows how important the titles are.

Once you start having non-title fights headline over championship matches, it hurts the Championships.

It is like when UFC 61 went down, everyone knew the fight with the most interest was Shamrock vs Ortiz. And yet that didn't main event.

Because they have been fighters for more than two years and have more than six fights under their belts.

Rampage/Glover will likely finish within 3 rounds and flyweights will use all 5.

You don't see either fighter, their camps or many MMA fans complaining...Unlike the lame point you're trying to make.

Also because neither Dodson or Mighty Mouse got a UFC PPV main event title fight because of a 2 fight win streak on small shows against fighters with a combined record of 8-9...Also not everyone including oddsmakers/experts sees Dodson-MM as some kind of attn grabbing squash match with massive odds that is expected to last about 30 seconds....Nice try though.

I see what u did ts. Nobody else does!

I'm almost tempted to not post so that the Ravden guy can come in and act all butt hurt about someone putting a downer on the lighter weights.

Nice job man, puts the Rousey debacle in perspective for the uneducated.

The vastly uneducated who still think that this is a serious thread, welcome to Sherdog, you're exactly where you're supposed to be

At UFC 48, however, Shamrock-Kimo (of all things) headlined over a heavyweight title bout. Hopefully that foolishness is a relic of the past.

UFC is also trying to establish these new divisions in 135 women and 125 men, by not having their championship matches headline you are basically cutting their legs off before they have a chance.

Wondering how many people will either read thread title and post immediately or misunderstand the first post and post in agreement.

Mighty Mouse and Dodson is going to be a much better fight than Rampage Glover.

Why wouldn't they be?

Because it is a shallow freakshow division and the belt is not a credible title on the same level as the other male divisions due to the low numbers and ability of fighters.

if headlining slots were given out based on the fight i wanted to see the most wed be having some of the prelim fights headlining cards but then that would be utterly retarded...championship fights headline bottom line end of story...why is this hard to understand? who gives a fuck if theres a fight youre more pumped to see? irrelevant...title fights are the headliner as they should be...

cant tell if serious or being ironical to highlight the negativity toward honda and carmouche fighting as main event.

its equally as credible as any other title...the fighters have shown and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to have comparable skill sets...100% impossible to dispute...the only difference is popularity...this isnt about skills...this is a popularity contest...luckily, only a minority of morons care about a popularity contest and the rest of the real fans tune in to watch the fights...
