Who would you consider an “Elite Striker” in the UFC?

True that, Izzy was easily outlanding and outstriking Pereira for 4.3 rounds. He's clearly the better striker until he wilts.
He's better point fighting, once Pereira changes gears and brings the pressure and tries to finish Izzy - he has been able to do so. Izzy has one gear and tries to fight at that gear throughout the whole fight. Pereira can change gears and so far Izzy can't keep up with Pereira when he turns it up.

My bad… I thought we were talking real boxing.
There's real prospects on there but yes even on the big fight cards there are low ranked fighters on there as well on the undercard. It's no different than mma/UFC where the undercards aren't ranked and they can be anywhere in rank 100-200+. Most of the contender fighters aren't ranked and they are on almost every UFC fight card. So it's not just boxing that has lower ranked fighters on the undercards.

Yeh but if KID could be competitive with Zambidis/Masato and Paul Daley could beat ranked guys I think many more today could do so. Not that I expect them to clean up shop, in pure striking.

The opening post asked which fighters are on par with strikers from other sports, not which would compete well in those striking sports. I think if you put high-level guys from boxing, K1 or Muay Thai into the UFC, in many cases their ability to adapt their striking to the wrestling threat won't be as good as some of the UFC guys. Eg they won't be able to strike so well while thinking about needing to dig underhooks, get their hips back or not square the hips. It's like comparing MT to K1 - Petrosyan and Buakaw might be the best in K1 rules, but maybe not in MT - but does it make them worse strikers? If a K1 champ goes to boxing and gets lit up, does it make him a bad striker? Or if a MT champ goes to Lethwei and loses due to struggling with the headbutting threat, does it make him a bad striker? Same for the Lethwei guy going into MT. I think the best MMA striking will be its own legitimate striking form in the same way and to an extent already is (but it'll get better).
Yeah a lot of fighters will be able to compete and some may even win. But yes, I do agree that fighters crossing over will have to adjust their striking styles to be effective. Doesn't matter if you are going from mma to pure striking combat sport and vice versa. Izzy is a prime example of someone from a pure striking art being able to adjust his striking style for mma, so he's one of the blueprints out there. Not many have crossed over from mma to a pure striking art and became champion so there aren't many options to choose from. Holzken attempted it but came up short as well. He had his moments though in his boxing fights but wasn't able to get past a certain level once he stepped up in competition.

The term gets thrown around quite a bit. Which UFC strikers are on par with strikers from all sports?

IMO there aren’t to many in the UFC, Adesanya, Pereira and Volkanovski immediately come to mind. Throw in the woman if you like.

Reason I ask is striking battles in the UFC can get ugly quick, really bad technique when compared to kickboxers and boxers alike.

Love to see where the level of striking is in 50 years
Wonderboy
Anderson silva
Porrier
Pereira
Francis
Masvidal
Adesanya

The guys you dont want to strike with

prime conor was an elite mma striker, so was prime pettis, prime aldo, prime shogun, prime cerrone and most of all, prime anderson

old anderson gave prime izzy a tough match

Pereira & Adesanya currently, there really isn't anyone else close when it comes to using all limbs and being technical.

If we're going to talk about to ever compete in the UFC. A.Silva, Machida, Aldo & Shogun. Shogun vs Machida was probably the best display of technical striking in a bout at the time when it occurred.

Alex really is elite and Izzy too...those guys from Glory are elite strikers...
MMA fighters can have amazing strikes but not elite status..
There is difference...most fans don't see it...they just wait till the punch lands
Striking is a sport in itself, like vs Wrestling...
Speaking of wrestling...
Like just look at how Ronda grew, one dimensional but more effective, which is wrestling
WMMA came later...but the pattern was the same...with Men
Matt Hughes and on was like the Ronda era, till a dude name Chuck Liddell came in...I think 1997
So like what...4 or 5 years till someone could make the wrestler now have to strike
Just look at Chuck Liddell vs Ronda Rousey.....Chuck was the guy to make Wrestlers crap their pants as a striker
But Ronda was an era WMMA striking did not infiltrate like when Chuck did...
But...the level of striking in MMA depends on their background...just like wrestling...
Its like two different sports that need you to invest so much time that you really don't have time for the other
Or else everyone would be an amazing wrestler and striker at the same time.

THEe3EE UNDERTaKAAAH!

The best pure striker in wwe history.

You think these guys fair well in striking sports? I watch boxing and kickboxing and a fair few of these guys are a couple pegs below
They don't extensively train one single aspect so no they wouldn't fair well against the best of boxing or kickboxing. You take the best kickboxer or boxer and he isn't going to look good against any well rounded top 5 mmatist either. Get it?

I think after about 20 years of fights and footage we can drop the whole kickboxers from Glory or years ago it was K1 are elite while MMA fighters aren't . Fact of the matter is that in this sport, fighters that have a strong MMA background and not pure striking are just as elite as fighters that do. So yes, you can have mma fighters who are elite strikers.
