Alex is like a smaller, older, less creative version of Gane.

Are you serious. Not even close, Gane punches like a girl compared to Alex. He is slow, zero ground game and zero TDD. Doubt he is even significantly stronger, because of the weight.

Last Jones fight in LHW, he could not take Reyes down, was dominated at standup for 3 rounds. Arguably lost. And Alex is 230-240lbs lean, he will do ok at HW and against chubby Jones. And those fast leg kicks, no one does them so well.

In Jones' prime, it would be problematic for Alex, but now, not so much.

I don't think it has anything to do with ducking him because of skill

But because he doesn't sell. He's an uninteresting personality with no marketability.

If it's your last fight, you want to make as much money as possible. Put on the biggest event possible.

It's really that simple.

Poatan is the biggest fight that can be made In the sport currently. It's the fight that people want to see.

The fight that will get him out of bed in the morning.

Jones has issues with motivation, which we seen during the end of his LHW tenure.

Unless its a big fight that is interesting, we probably won't see the best Jones. Which means he probably isn't taking it.

Which is a common theme with almost all fighters in the last part of their career. They want big fights that get the blood flowing, otherwise there's no point.

People are quick to claim duck but never consider the bigger picture.
