Media Who would be interested in a Sumo-Slap Promotion?

Did the guy actually win via KO? I'm assuming it was a NC or something

Aren't headbutts virtually legal in sumo? Can't imagine a slap KO would be a no contest.
I really don't know. I don't follow sumo, and I thought it was grappling only since that's all they ever seem to do. Was hoping for a quick reply on this one

No such thing as a NC in sumo. Closest thing would be a torinaoshi (rematch) but that's reserved for situations where both wrestlers hit the ground or step out of the ring at the exact same time.

Losses by disqualification can happen, typically if one guy grabs the other guy's topknot, which isn't allowed. Slapping is 100% legal.

The guy who got KO'd lost but not because he got KO'd, he lost because he hit the ground first.

There are dozens of official kimarite (winning techniques) - I'd look up the one that was declared for this match but I don't know the names of the wrestlers in the tweet since I can't read Japanese characters.

Yes headbutts are legal. I can't say if they happen on purpose but they do happen accidentally quite a bit.

Okay I found more information on this. This was Kaiseijo vs. Wakamiyabi in the third division (makushita), on day 5 of the July tournament, Kaiseijo was the winner, and the official kimarite was tsukiotoshi (thrust down).

This KO via Slap in a Sumo competition went viral.. And I cannot help thinking this is where Dana White's Slap promotion needs to go with weight classes.

Out of Morbid Curiosity I was one of the few who watched "Powerslap: Road to the Title"

They already have a Superheavyweight class with 400lbers and a bunch of sumo guys are in it slapping each other.

Theres no such thing as an NC in any sport because a NC means the fight never happened.

Sumo is awesome. Slap, not a fan but each to their own.

I feel like that connected more with his palm of his hand and was more of a palm strike like in Pancrase than a slap like Dana did his wife.
