I think Yoel won and I was disappointed at the decision. But, Yoel had multiple chances to finish the fight and didn't make it happen.

A 10-7 for the fifth round is a much more reasonable score than 10-9. Props for Whittaker for returning from the dead, but he was dropped, absorbed a ton of damage, turtled up and didn't do anything of significance to make up for what happened. When he was turtled up fight could have been stopped and nobody would be able to complain. If that's not a 10-8, then it's better to just get rid of 10-8s.
Didn't Robert spend the last minute of round 5 on top dropping elbows on Yoel? That makes it a 10-9 in my opinion

10-10 rounds are a myth. Give an example of 10 “10-10” rounds in the last 10 years in the UFC. I’ll wait.

Theodorou vs. Kelly
Pearson vs. Laprise
Omielanczuk vs. Danho
Ishihara vs. Hirota
Hendricks vs. Lawler I
Mizugaki vs. Phan
Ferreira vs. Sarafian
Saint Preux vs. Villante
Lentz vs. Nunes
Kongo vs. Jordan

And the fact that something is used rarely is no reason not to use it. MMA judging would be a lot better if 10-10s and 10-7s weren't so rare, although I don't think either occurred in this fight. However, Round 5 was a very clear 10-8. If that wasn't a 10-8, I'd hate to see what a 10-7 (something that explicitly exists in the rules) looks like.

Nah I’m good. Don’t come in any of my threads if you’re gonna complain.
Who's complaining? If your going to post a thread, at least have the courtesy to make sure the exact same thread hasn't been posted. Common sense. It's the normal thing to do around here.

There wasn’t a 10-10 in Lawler 1 vs Hendricks. How long did it take to get that list?

I’ll post whatever I want. There are mods here to organize content. Why would archive search a thread to see if it’s been done before? Think son.

"You know what they say about common sense...."

The votes speak for themselves most people feel Romero won that fight.

Romero uncrowned champ

There is something fundamentally wrong with a combat sport where you can almost KO a guy in the 3rd round, put him on rubber legs in the 4th round, and almost KO him again in the 5th round, and you score all the takedown, and they still give the decision to the other guy. Romero won.

3-2 Whittaker.

The argument here is round 5 at 10-8

Actually dissapointed no one had a draw out of the 3 judges

Romero was a clear round 3 and clear 10-8 in the 5th. Not sure how he didnt at least get a draw.

yoel took a round off. thats not a good look

3-2 bob. could've been draw with Romero's near finishing. i thought round 5 was 10-8.

A bigger factor that swayed that round to a 10-9 imo was that Whitaker was never flattened out and eating strikes.

But under the old Pride rules, Yoel come closer to finishing the fight and Whitaker can't hide his head under Yoel's nuts to temporarily protect himself from being koed. That must've left a bad taste despite his win.
