Who watches black mirror and which episode is your favourite

The Entire History of You or 15 million merits.

Kinda like the endings of the shows. You don't get a cheesy happy ending.

Lesbian theme? That was your take away?

How about the fact that the young black chick was acting her ass off?

Or how the twist snuck up on you but left a great trail of breadcrumbs?

Or how the "choice" presents such an impactful decision on faith?

Or the damn soundtrack?

There was a lot more to that episodes then a lesbian theme.

I'm not arguing the fact that it was a brilliant epidode, but they all are. It's just that this episode got special attention, because there was gay characters involved. You had people taking to their twitter, about how amazing it was half because they wanted to be viewed as tolerant by their peers.

Don't get the wrong Idea I'm not anti gay or anything. It's just funny to watch people in the entertainment industry pander for gold medals in the tolerance Olympics. They think they're being all sweet and progressive when in reality they are just being patronizing.

I didn't hear ANY of that.

I guess I just follow the wrong people on Twitter.

Both of the episodes mentioned here have haunted me - the VR horror episode and the likes episode.

But I cannot get out of my head the one where part of your consciousness is turned into a Siri-type machine. And you can torture it by putting it through years of waiting over a couple hours. The shit of nightmares right there.

Yea i was thinking about this one today actually. However scary it is though, you cant be the one stuck being tortured just your copy. So theres that.

Men Against Fire for me was the most powerful one. Powerful point on what kind of emotional sacrifice we thrust upon the young soldiers who do our bidding for us.

Just watched Shut Up and Dance. Probably 2nd favorite for me now behind Entire History of You. I didn't really catch on immediately that the kid was looking at kiddie porn when jerking it. Honestly, I think the episode would have been more powerful if he was just whacking it to regular porn.

I noticed another futuristic horror trope used was memory swiping. Those always kind of stick with me after the episode is over.

Haven't watched them all yet, but currently in season 3.

So far, 15 Million Merits was my favorite one.
The guy betraying his values and selling out all for a slightly cushier life rings true across humanity. Despite his geniune frustrations and outrage over how the system works, it's true that everybody's got a price. He falls back in line by being essentially a prop all for bigger room.

It wasn't just twitter. A lot of the reviews for the episode praised it for it's LGBT themes. I also think the 80's nostalgia trip scored it some extra points too.

I liked the idea behind the episode, but I found it to be pretty dull overall, and I think they totally copped out with the ending.

White Bear was fucking brutal as well. I like the really dark episodes that leave you feeling dirty.

I agree. Liked the episode and appreciate what it did, but wasn't blown away by any means. I wasn't as engaged with it as I was with White Bear and Shut Up and Dance.

White Bear and Shut Up and Dance just made you root for the wrong guy the whole way through, then turned it up on its head in the end and made you absolutely LOATH them. They both make you feel dirty, ESPECIALLY Shut Up and Dance.

If I had to pick I'd probably say White Bear, but my least favorite episodes were the pig fucker episode and the Waldo Momement. They are all good though.

It's a kick ass episode, but I thought it was kind of funny how the San Junipero got so much critical acclaim just because there was a lesbian theme to it.
What a dumb ass comment. I see you are one of those weirdos who thinks the media is trying to turn everyone one gayear San Junipero was praised because it was good.

Not at all. I just call it like I see it. You're naive if you think that Hollywood doesn't try to shine a spotlight on diversity. It's not necessarily a bad thing and I'm not trying to take anything away from San Junipero either, It's just that when subject matter involves LGBT or Minority content it usually receives extra praise.

I watched the first two last night.

Should I stick with it? They get better?

I've watched 5 episodes so far. IDK WTF y'all are talking about, "San Junipero" was dumb.

"Shut Up and Dance" and "Entire History" were good.

"Pig Fucker" was good until the end, which left me decidedly:

No, because like Bronn said, EVERYBODY tosses it to regular porn. No shame at all in a late teen / young adult doing it, it's absolutely the normalist thing in the world. I was thinking the exact same thing throughout the entire episode until the reveal. Up to the end there, I was having trouble engaging the episode because I was thinking what ridiculous leverage to hold over someone that age, as opposed to say Bronn's adultery. Would a video leak of you wanking it be embarrassing? Sure. But that's nothing you could blackmail a normal someone into robbing a bank or killing someone over.

I was expecting more out of san junipero, but was disappointed in the end. I get they can download their conscience to a computer and play forever, but after the bod dies, conscience goes with it. what's on the computer is a simulation of what the computer thinks your conscience is. Kinda the same thing where the guy confessed to killing the old man. the cops left his conscience in a prison for eternity. I'm supposed to feel bad for it, but again, it's a simulation. nothing to feel bad about. I do feel bad for Don Draper having been cut off from everyone though. that shit sucks.
