Merab has a good resume before winning the title. I think with 2-3 title defenses he'll be well in the discussion.

For now, it has to be Cruz though. Even with 6 years or so lost to injuries, he still has beaten the best competition.

If Merab beats Umar he's immediately in the discussion. Having beaten Umar, O'Malley, Yan, Cejudo and Aldo is pretty nuts. Too bad he isn't beating Umar.
