Who looked better against Jan? Poatan or Izzy?

No he wouldn't, Adesanya walks around at 215lbs now. Pereira(226) & Adesanya (215) were only 11lbs apart when they both started there training camp for their first bout. Israel Adesanya said he was 206-207lbs at the "swing of camp." call in himself a LHW. at min 46:30

It's kinda misguided people on here spew out that Israel walks around at 197lbs because that's what he weigh in against Jan over 2years ago. When 8months ago he himself said he walks at 215lbs.

respect for backing your stuff up with facts

99% of this board can't do that @Eat My Teep

I thought the Izzy fight was fairly competitive too and the size made a difference once Jan got him down also strength wise in the stand up. Izzy didn't get beat bad.

So the issue was Jan gassing because of high altitude. Ok, apparently, Poatan is immune to altitude shifts.

lmao, ok shertard, one throwaway line (3 words), compared to a paragraph on Izzy vs Alex

you got me, well done!

@moreorless87

Still there pretty obviously and arguebly worse because its so dismissing and lacking in "facts" you hold so highly , read my post and its not even referring specifically to you in reference to the Izzy/Jan fight.

All the stuff about Izzy/Alex is just waffling nonsense totally lacking in facts which would be that yeah they had 4 competitive fights but Izzy is 1-3 in those fights. To try and claim thats some kind of irrelevant "luck" o Alex's part is nonsense.

Again I think that whilst I like Izzy(but Alex moreso) and yeah Alex picked up some asshole right wing fans I think Izzy has the most crazy fanbase on Sherdog now. Its basically the idea that "my guy just won so literally anything I say is true" writ large.

The way Izzy himself walked away from such a big MMA trilogy fight(when the UFC has put on so many unneeded ones) as well is very disappointing and does not really suggest he thinks he can easily beat Alex.

He knows he cant EASILY beat Alex. No one thinks its an easy fight for him, which is why he is smart not to just fight him three times in a row. Unlike other trilogies,Alex was fast tracked to this fight because of his kickboxing wins over him. That was a layup. He got it,and won. Izzy got it back. So now let Alex actually earn the third fight.

Alex had the win over him in a division were he's otherwise been dominant and both fights were very competitive, I think its clear we would be seeing a trilogy fight right away if it suited the UFC and Izzy but again I think they have the result they want and offered Alex the fast track to a LHW title shot instead.

The UFC have booked loads of trilogies which the 3rd fight was far more of a foregone conclusion than this but again I think the issue is they gave them the result they wanted.

I dont agree its clear we should be seeing a trilogy fight right away. Logjam the division, and it's not Izzy's job to keep fighting over and over the toughest guy in the div. He beat him,he's right to move on after 2 fights.

Of course its the result they wanted. Izzy can continue his elite status, and Poatan CAN win that LHW title, and if he does,THEN do the rematch,it will be twice as big with two titlists fighting, with IZZY now CHASING Poatan!

I don't see much of a "logjam" personally, is Stickland the guy Alex murked getting a title shot so important?

Look at the UFC's history and I think its clear they would be booking the 3rd fight ASAP if they didnt already have the result they wanted, its clearly the biggest fight at MW they can book.

My guess is they never fight again, at least not unless Alex starts losing to other fighters looking worse.

Thats clearly the result they wanted, they can make the rematch any time they want, cos they know all Poatan needs is a striker to fight and he will earn another shot. Dricus Africanus should def get a shot after beating Whittaker. Izzy shouldnt have to fight Poatan forever. Their fights are SOOOO GOOOOOD but they dont have to be in a row.

Not "forever" but I think the 3rd fight clearly needed to happen, its the fight which would show us who is the better guy in that matchup most likely, which of the previous two fights was the upset AND I think would be Izzy's career defining win if he got it which would help his case for being the MW GOAT over Anderson.

That he and the UFC walked away from it and almost certainly told Alex to move to LHW instead I think put him back considerably going for MW GOAT status. That does not sound like a fighter who is confident the original MMA loss was an upset to me.

Poatan was sayin he was going up to LHW after that anyways. That fight is always in the pocket. Also if Poatan can beat both Jan AND jiri and then Izzy beats him at LHW,who CARES about being "MW GOAT" he'd do something better than that

I hope I'm wrong and it happens but I have a feeling it won't or at least Izzy it hoping Alex loses before then so it doesnt.

Nah man

That fight w 2 champions at LHW is the biggest fight available for him

it would be slightly bigger but really not that significant compared to fighting Alex right away the 3rd time.

You don't avoid a fight like that for the possibility Alex might beat Jan and Jiri if you really want it.

Poatan won, Israel lost, both decisions clear as day.

So......Poatan? Lol

lmao, to claim its luck is nonsense?

watch the fight hahaha, its not like I'm making this up out of thin air. It requires a quite high level of delusion to ignore how the fights played out.
I salute your delusion though. To claim theres no luck when as far as mma is concerned.. Alex's wins are near perfect MMA cliches for luck - lucky decision, standing 8, saved by the bell....

Also some pure grade A cope to assume its my guy won so anything i say is true... you might notice I always cite facts, examples, references etc to back up what I'm saying.

your opinion vs multi billion betting industry still having Izzy as the favourite despite being down "0-3". Maybe just maybe there was more to it than the final result...

Izzy walked away? didn't Alex go up to 205. I mean what version of the truth are you trying to tell yourself here?

I doubt he thinks he can easily beat Alex. He knows its a fn mission, but he also knows (in his mind - ignore all the noise 0-3 still a favourite lol), that he was always better, just had to get the job done.

Poatan clearly won and Izzy clearly lost. There is always some weird Izzy cope here.

it’s kind of like how people think being beaten 3 times is more impressive than only being beaten once in their head to head.
