Who looked better against Jan? Poatan or Izzy?

Why are people omitting the fact Alex Pereira also had to deal with altitude? People are making it out to be like Jan was the only one fighting at altitude on the entire card ans everyone else fought at sea level.

It's kinda misguided people on here spew out that Israel walks around at 197lbs because that's what he weigh in against Jan over 2years ago. When 8months ago he himself said he walks at 215lbs.

He has made aj effort to put on weight since the Jan fight.

He literally put on weight and still didn't weight 205 lbs for the Jan fight. He's been pretty open about his weight at all times.

He clearly weighs more now and has been putting on weight since that Jan loss.

What are you talking about? Adesanya himself said he was not going to put on weight for his bout against Jan. He literally did not try to put on weight against Jan, he boasted about it.

Do you even know how the weight classes work? The limit for LHW is 186-205lbs, you don't need to be exactly 205lbs to fight in that weight class.

Now after the Jan bout, it is pretty clear Adesanya put on weight, that is why I just found it disingenuous that people claim Pereira is 30lbs bigger when in actuality at Pereira & Adesanya are probably closer in weight than many people want to believe currently.
 
Apart from this being a retarded question as Pereira won while Izzy lost, it's also a retarded question because there's also 2 years difference between the two fights.

Jan is no longer the defending champ at his best, is now 40, and many thought he lost his last fight too. Pereira meanwhile just lost his belt a few months ago and is still at his best. Maybe even better without the massive weight cut to MW.

Alex was always likely to do better for those reasons, even if Jan still won. He was fighting a much worse version.

That this thread even exists I think is a testament to much far away from reality some people are, one guy lost to Jan fairly convincingly, it wasnt a total domination but he very clearly lost, the other had a close fight with him but he won and had Jan in very serious trouble, who did better against him is fucking obvious.

Again thats coming from someone who is very much a fan of Izzy the fighter and was cheering for him against Jan.

Never once did I make reference to the fights Alex or Izzy had with Jan. I was specifically replying to a post saying Alex was a better fighter than Izzy.
I used a bunch of examples / facts peppered with some (a lot) of insults. All those examples related directly to Izzy vs Alex, with some comments on the circumstances of Alex quick title shot path.

However if you do want me to address what this thread is about

Sure on the face of it Alex did a much better job vs Jan than Izzy. There are some mitigating factors like Alex being huge and making the proper weight gain for 205 where Izzy did not. But Alex still did better.

But that doesn't mean he's the better overall fighter. Thats just vs one guy.

So see why I throw in a tonne of insults? I never stated an opinion who did better vs Jan. I just said Izzy is better than Alex. Izzy is better than Alex, but doesn't mean Alex can't beat people Izzy couldn't beat.

And lmao, its just incredible cope if you think the results vs a shared opponent in Jan mean much if anything. Like I said, Izzy likely about to be MW Goat, Alex won't even make top 10.
 
A 5 rounder is much different than a 3 rounder, so this is not really a good comparison; the difference in fight time is especially consequential in these two matchups.

I also think the last few years have really diminished Jan; getting into the 40s has a way of sending guys over the hill athletically.

Yeah that was definitely a factor too.

Pereira's cardio was much stronger than Jan's and it showed. Without that draining weight cut I wouldn't doubt if he actually has decent cardio at LHW.
 
they both looked like shit. but alex wasnt really expected to do anything on the ground, so even a robbery (or arguable robbery via sd) is impressive.
