Rose also needs an enormous amount of prep to look that good vs opponents. It's strange when you consider she isn't a rote fighter like JJ who has spent maybe at tops 5 weeks doing specific work for an opponent in her entire UFC career. Probably less.

There's probably nobody in the UFC that gets that much time to prep for anyone. She has done this repeatedly and IMO will continue until she retires. They simply won't let her compete unless every possible card is stacked in her favor. It's actually smart. Fans don't give a shit. She needs no excuses as fans make them up for her. You just can't afford to have a large % of fighters in the UFC do this or you would never get fights.

Anyway nobody should count her out vs Weili. That's just stupid.

EDIT: Oh and I don't think JJ should fight Weili again or ever. Not that Dana is interested in paying her to do so. That much is clear. She probably left 10 years in the cage that night. Probably should stay clear of Yan for the same reason. Dana can't pay her enough for that fight either.

She needs a tune up fight at a minimum. Really she should end her career at 125. I think fans would be happy just to see her compete at this point nevermind being a contender. Less weight cuts for her mean less dangerous fights. Even if she is going to be the much smaller person in the cage and girls will probably do their best to fence fuck and blanket her with their weight advantage.

She should def fight others and then think about how she wants to end her career. If she would fight zhang again,save it for last.

Rose’s submission game is HIGHLY overrated. In thirteen professional might, she’s submitted one decent grappler in Waterson, and Waterson was already halfway out from the high kick.

Rose is 1-1 in her last two. Got knocked out in the loss, almost knocked out again in a split decision win. Anyone ranked 6 or above with two or more wins is more deserving.

She's a Brown Belt and 5 of her 9 wins are by submission, she's better than a lot of the division is, she also fucked Angela Hill with a standing choke

I would assume since they’re going back to fight island in January one of those events would have that as a headliner (or maybe co headline to another title fight)

Like I said, she’s submitted one decent grappler, only after catching her with a high kick. Submitting Angela hill isn’t even impressive today.

No one said she's got amazing grappling, she's barely talked about at all of late never mind overrated.... Her BJJ is very good when you consider her striking game to go with it...

Also "one decent grappler" is better than most, and she's only been subbed once herself by a very competent grappler..Who cares if she got a sub after a high kick.

Her first ever pro fight was a submission win against a BJJ Blackbelt, she's got Calderwood, Markos, PVS, Angela Hill all tapped. Who in her division has a better submission record than that? Certainly not the lady in your Av who has 0.

An interesting way to represent Rose's record: "1-1 in her last two".
But why stop at "her last two"? Rose is 3-1 in her last four fights, three of which were championship fights, one of which gained her the belt, and one of which was a successful title defense.

Or one could expand further and say Rose is 4-1 in her last five fights, and ranked #1 in the division.

And that equates, according to you, to "anyone ranked 6 or above with two or more wins is more deserving"?

Absolutely, some weird negative Rose stretches cracking in this here thread..

In her 2nd to last fight she got slammed on her head in one of the worst slam KO's ever, has struggled with mental health for ages, yet still managed to come back and beat the absolute beast who royally fucked her up.. I don't understand the criticism's here at all. And i'm not even her biggest fan.
 
For me the latitude given to Rose undermines the theory that the UFC are serious about China. They've got a Chinese champion who is sidelined while they wait for the pretty American.

It's a puzzle, if she wins back the belt it probably goes into hibernation, and even if she can be persuaded to do promotional work it'll be derailed by the presence of Pat.

Are we sure that this is what is actually going on? Did the UFC say they are waiting on Rose? Or could it be that the UFC has hopes that China will find a way to have a card (with Weili as the main-event) with an in-person audience in attendance? Maybe they are VERY serious about China, and they want to exploit the opportunity presented by Champion Weili to the max?
