Who is Weili Zhang going to fight next?

No one said she's got amazing grappling, she's barely talked about at all of late never mind overrated.... Her BJJ is very good when you consider her striking game to go with it...

Also "one decent grappler" is better than most, and she's only been subbed once herself by a very competent grappler..Who cares if she got a sub after a high kick.

Her first ever pro fight was a submission win against a BJJ Blackbelt, she's got Calderwood, Markos, PVS, Angela Hill all tapped. Who in her division has a better submission record than that? Certainly not the lady in your Av who has 0.
So you go from moving the goal posts to deflecting. Sausage carrier was right, Rose doesn’t have to make up excuses, her fanboys do the work for her. Speaking of which....
An interesting way to represent Rose's record: "1-1 in her last two".
But why stop at "her last two"? Rose is 3-1 in her last four fights, three of which were championship fights, one of which gained her the belt, and one of which was a successful title defense.

Or one could expand further and say Rose is 4-1 in her last five fights, and ranked #1 in the division.

And that equates, according to you, to "anyone ranked 6 or above with two or more wins is more deserving"?
Other fighters have better recent records, more straight wins, and have fought more often. They are more deserving.

The idea that the strongest women’s division should constantly be held up because this chick can’t stay healthy is ridiculous. The idea of a champ having to wait on a challenger is downright disgusting.

You move the goal posts by saying things like 'that came after a head kick' lmao. She's a brown belt fam, objectively good at BJJ , Whether or not headkicks are involved.

Saying the best grappler she beat via sub came off the back of a kick that put said grappler on queer street is not moving the goal posts. It is stating a fact.

And I have stated plenty of facts that discredit your shit stance.
So how many are better in her division?

Youi lost whatever argument you thought you had the moment you tried to deflect by attacking Grasso

Nah nonsense, you haven't countered any of my points.. You lost when you said her ground games overrated yet can't name a single fighter in her division who's is better.. I'll give you a clue, Andrade! .. Now name someone else or shh.

Just because you think she doesn't deserve to fight Zhang, doesn't mean her ground game is overrated.

weili could also fight val if she doesn't want to wait

To me, the fight between Namajunas and Zhang is really hard to pick, unless Zhang can reliably force the clinch. If so, I expect her to maul Namajunas with little difficulty. Only time will tell if I am correct in any of these assumptions.
Rose was trained to cause collisions and ends her entry alongside her opponent. Not including the jab. She has done this for at least 4 years at this point. I understand fans not paying any attention but a coach with half a brain cell will. You just have to do the opposite of what JJ did in her rematch.

Rose will literally end up toe tip to toe tip with Weili. IMO Rose is going to faint the fuck out of her. Joanna tried this and I don't think Weili bit on a single feint the whole fight. Had zero respect for her. Unlike Joanna with her broken hands Rose has no such problems and will force Weili to respect her.

The fighter with the more glaring flaws is Rose and significantly easier to prep for her than Weili. They both spend an inhuman amount of time training and prepping and neither one is a rote fighter.

It's Rose. That fight is in the works afaik
Although Dana has said they're working on it, many of the fights that the UFC "worked on" never came to fruition. The only one that has given a relatively specific time frame is Weili's bjj coach, who's indicated that he expects they will meet sometime in the first quarter. Personally, I'd like to hear something a little more concrete.

Maybe but sparring with a beast like Bullet regularly doesn't hurt her cause.

Has Rose sparred with Valentina since her fight w/JJ? If not, and given that Valentina is not a pressure fighter, I'm not sure how much that sparring will have helped prepare her for the pressure that Weili will be bringing.

I would assume since they’re going back to fight island in January one of those events would have that as a headliner (or maybe co headline to another title fight)
I hope you're right, but I'll be surprised if you are.

Are we sure that this is what is actually going on? Did the UFC say they are waiting on Rose? Or could it be that the UFC has hopes that China will find a way to have a card (with Weili as the main-event) with an in-person audience in attendance? Maybe they are VERY serious about China, and they want to exploit the opportunity presented by Champion Weili to the max?

In all likelihood, they are shooting to have Weili vs. Yan in China, and that is still a couple of fights away.

That is actually the fight I would like to see most, even if it results in a Weili loss. Weili's the biggest challenge I can see for Valentina at 125 or less. Weili has called out for it but Valentina doesn't seem interested, or maybe she's just playing hard to get.

i mean you might be right but Joanna gave her all she could handle and Rose beat her soundly twice so it is absurd to act like its a foregone conclusion...
Bla bla bla Styles make fights bla bla bla

have they confirmed yet?

if she beats Rose

Andrade
Joanna
Rose

that's a stacked impressive roster

Andrade fights at 135lbs now. I doubt that is going go happen just yet, especially after she trashed her last time out.

Andrade is being lined up for Val I think.

Valentina has repeatedly said Zhang has business in her own division to take care of before she can start calling for superfights.

I am inclined to agree, Zhang has one title defense to her credit and she almost lost. She needs to beat more contenders at 115.

This era of fighters winning titles and immediately jumping divisions without really defending is tiresome. Lineal champs are always better and more meaningful.

Fighting the champ of a lighter division... There needs to be more incentive to risk it. Look at what happened to Cyborg's career after losing to Nunes.
