I'd say Volk has a slightly better resume. I might even consider Volk more well rounded. With that being said Khabib is a high tier specialist. His wrestling, pressure , grapple etc are some of the best we have seen in MMA. If they were to fight fight in their prime Khabib would melt Volk bad.

I think I see a lot of recency bias in this thread. Khabib was dominating everyone at 155. Other than Tibau, most of his fights weren’t even close. I forget what it is, but his rounds win to loss ratio is ridiculous.

Personally, like a lot of you, I like Volk more as a fighter. He’s more exciting and fun to watch. And it shows heart and character to go up in weight and put on the performance he did against Islam. Which is admirable.

All in all, for me it’s too close to call. But if Volk keeps going. Keeps defending. Maybe take another shot at Islam. He has the trajectory to indeed surpass Khabib.
