The thing is that those corrupt leaders who`ve been corrupt since the start and have been corrupt for all of it`s history are the ones who shaped the religion as we know it, they`re the ones who edited and amended the bible, they decided what made the cut and what didn`t. They decided on what the church`s stance on a wide variety of issues are.
The religion as we know it was built and molded in a specific way by corrupt ppl. Why believe in something that`s built on lies told by dubious ppl with an obvious agenda.
Jesus himself wasnt a christian and certainly wouldnt be one today.
Nobody is talking about the legit reasons to not like Christianity or Catholicism. The ones blasting in this thread are going on about the recent scandals. A poster even said that is what made him quit. These scandals don't have anything to do with the beliefs. If the Bible or official canon said "priests are allowed to molest children and everyone has to cover it up." then you can blame the religion. Like I said, there are plenty of legit reasons to hate the actual religion. Stuff that is part of their actual beliefs. These scandals aren't one of them. You should be angry at Church officials and the priests for these.
As for your point of the corrupt people deciding what is to be believed, it's true. But they were hypocrites. Most of them preached of behavior much different than how they acted. That means you gotta judge the beliefs on their own rather than who made them part of the official canon. Judging a religion on administrative officials is one big Tu Quoque argument.
