How do you build credit? Will you ever own a home or car some day?

How the fuck do you even rent a hotel room?

I checked my credit rating recently for that reason (buying a house) because I thought I might need to get a credit card to get that up, but it's actually really good so it's not a problem.. obviously I own a car etc, but you don't need a credit card for that?

I'm not claiming I make loads of money or anything because I don't; but if you don't start a cycle of buying things before you have the money then there's no reason that you can't just use actual money rather than getting into a mess with credit.

Paid off all credit cards, student loans, both cars are paid for. My job matches my retirement contributions. After the new year, I will have a fully funded Roth IRA. I live very conservatively.
Nobody ever got rich on 1.5% cash back, using up their points or airline miles. Ed McMahon never visited me.
The secret to getting and having a (good) job: Be valuable . Any job that stifles your ingenuity or creativity, leave.
The secret to being wealthy: Investing your time and money wisely (or marry someone rich).

Can we trade lives?

I'm 32 and I've never had a credit card. I don't see the point of it tbh.

You kind of need one to rent a hotel room and that sort of thing, also good to have in an emergency although a debit card will usually work too.

It wouldn't be fair to you: I get frequent headaches, nerve pain in my neck and back, arthritis in my left wrist, my hair is turning gray, and I'm only in my 30's. I'm pretty sure I have a mild learning disability, and suffer from bouts of depression.

Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side, but only because there's more manure.

I guess that's why I like watching other people beat each other up.

I know people that take an expensive vacation every year and put it on a credit card or take out a home equity loan because they have no money for it. I would rather just chill at home than worry about debt for the other 51 weeks a year.

Just bought a new iPhone cause my old one had a shitty battery so I owe up to $1,000 this month.

Maybe you should change the poll so we can guess which UFC fighters have the most credit card debt?

I have a bit under $1k on a credit card. I'm going to make a $400 payment on Friday.

Yeah I have a Debit card, I'm not some kind of hermit suggesting people keep their money under their mattress or anything ;)

haha, right on. Any temporary pleasure you get from living above your means is never going to outweigh the price you pay in stress and hassle.

No credit card, mortgage payed off,

I got credit card debt but I also run a business and debt is just the nature of the beast, you're always going to carry some.

loans? car finance etc all build your credit score without the need for credit cards

No credit card debt per say, but I dabbled into studying a little bit and accumulated some of that sweet debt doing it, before I eventually dropped out to live on the gubment dole until I'm dead.

I rolled all my credit card debt into high interest bookie loans.

i check my credit card every morning, whatever has gone through, i pay off

i only spend what i would spend from a debit card/cash. but at least this way i get free airline miles=free vacations
